had a chance to check out the apartment yesterday. it looks
awesome! :) semi-gloss white on the baseboards; flat white
on the walls... it looks...like we *meant* it to look like
that. ;)
oh, if ya look close, there're still places where the old
paint had come off n stuff...but my gawd, the difference is
incredible. :)
tenant had a few complaints, so i'm gonna see what i can do
to fix em. the lack of hot water to the bathroom's a
problem i doubt i can fix without ripping out the pipes n
replacing 'em. i wonder if there's a way to, like, snake
the *supply* pipes, since the problem's only from the cutout
for the kitchen sink to the bathroom...hmm...that's still a
lot of pipe, come to think of it.
oh, i found my bathroom remodeling book, which makes me very
happy. wait. i already mentioned that. *sigh* well, i
never claimed i was sane.
but i'm gonna insulate the hot water pipes going to the
upstairs as best os i can (ok, that was a terrible pun.),
and see if delivering *hotter* water helps enough for now.
plus there's still 2 window panes that need to be replaced.
i'd told dave they were his job, but they ain't getting
done...*sigh* and the light fixtures in the bathroom leave
quite a bit to be desired. one won't work at all, and the
pull string for the other doesn't budge, but the light's
locked in the "on" position. so if ya twist the bulb
(flourescent tube) out a bit, it'll turn off...but that's
annoying to have to do. may just get 2 new fixtures.
so i set a goal for myself today. i want to wrap the pipes
as best i can, and i want to work on the window frames.
but dang it, i need a job more than i need anything else. i
just wish i could think of something i could do that would
stand a chance of actually *helping* in that regard. *sigh*
there're 3 agencies apparently still thinking abt hiring me,
and i'm on tenterhooks with the waiting. one's the agency
that works with kids that i *really* wanted the job at.
they called while i was gone n dave told 'em i was still
interested. they said they needed another professional
reference. so i called 'em back on monday and they still
wanted to verify that i was still interested. told 'em i
definitely am, and that of all the jobs i've interviewed
for, that was the one i wanted most. gave 'em my choir
director as a professional reference.
i dunno...it just seems weird using her as a reference, cuz
i don't really consider that a *job*, even tho i get paid
for it.
i wish i could find pretzels with abt 1/16th the salt of
normal pretzels...but still have *some* salt. i like
pretzels, and they're perfect snacks for the way i'm sposta
be eating, but i have to knock 90% of the salt crystals off
first. oh well - i guess it's more exercise. ;)
and that's the state of my universe right now...was kinda
unstable when i came back from the convention, but am now
pretty much positive that that was from lack of sleep.
there's a *reason* the last 3 days of the con seem like a
dream to me!
so...that's me, right now. life's still pretty good. :)

Go to HD and look at instant hot water supply thingees. The
actual name of it escapes me, but you put it at the source
(ie, under the bathroom sink) so there is minimal pipes to
disturb. The point is that it heats the water in a flash like
a coffee pot. It is ridiculously expensive to do for big things
but to get hot water to wash your face or to take a shower it is
a good thing.

That is a good idea. They are quite cheap and really easy to
put in.

Get black foam pipe thingees (again from HD). they look
like black foam tubes with a cut along the side. Then you
wrap them in insulating tape. They work _very_ well!

Make your own. Then you can add as much/little salt as you
want. Want my recipe for soft pretzels?
