Given that kidlette will be 10 tomorrow, she has assured me that 'of
course I'll get everything done as you expect because I'm almost an
adult now' *grin*
We will see...
Tomorrow we have a bday to celebrate. She wants to eat at Dennys (!)
and drive around and look at lights. Ok...
Rainbow Colors (Jill)
was thinking about taking the boys out to eat. we are going to have very
small chr*istmas so am worried how dissappointed the boys will be. would
be nice to take them out to nice restaurant. would be fun too then we
can go to light show because we havn't done that yet.
I put up lights after thx g*ving. we had to flood lights that pointed at
our window where the tree is. the lights were red and green. someone
stold them. :(
happy bday kidlette

that's not nice!!!!
Well... until we were in the car and fritz and she were totally
insanely goofballs, sure. :) She took her shower without any comment,
put her laundry away, offered to get stuff for people on and off 'I'm
going in the kitchen to get juice. does anyone want anything?' and
cooperatively cleaned up after making a mess playing. But once we were
in the car and looking at lights she and fritz were over the top
nutzo. Laughing hysterically, throwing shoes at each other, singing
loudly and silly and then laughing at how silly it was. General
goofiness taken too far basically. When I pointed out that wasn't
really 10 year old behavior she said she was too tired to be 10 right
then.

Yeah, she wanted pancakes and coke for dinner *blech* and that is why
she wanted to go to dennys (we don't have coke at home but we could
have made her pancakes). Then she had a brownie with ice cream for
dessert (with candles) and the sugar rush was impressive :) I dunno
what fritz's problem was. He had juice and eggs so it's not like he
had the caffeine/sugar problem _she_ had. Of course, he _is_ 8...
Amazingly enough, they came in the house and went right to bed. No
problems. *stunned look* Given how whacko they were in the car I
really expected them to get into trouble at this point.

wow. that would be one heck of a sugar rush. brownie with ice cream is
one of the best things ever though

:)
Well, it is especially dangerous when the driver is driving a full
sized suv on a busy road at 45mph and gets whapped with one!!!

Yeah, I thought _you'd_ appreciate the logic :P

Yep. I'm just stunned she thought it was going to taste like a good
idea! The thought of pancakes and full sugar soda makes my teeth ache!
And to top it with ice cream and a brownie... It's not like she is
forbidden sugar so she was trying to make up for it either.

Good point. I'm sure the hysterical screaming and falling over
in the back seat used up quite a bit of energy.

I expect it to come and go over time like usual with her. She goes in
bursts of acting responsible and mature and then bursts where a five
year old could give her lessons. :P

She was extremely responsible today as well. Weird! I had clients to
train this morning so they went to a holiday camp thing at their
gymnastics place. It was from 9 to noon and she was very helpful and
patient with younger kids(except for fritz, of course:). We went out
to lunch and then saw a movie in the afternoon and she was very well
behaved.
Bizarre!
The kids are getting break projects done for school and cleaning
their rooms. I think I have FINALLY convinced kidlette to pack up
stuff she no longer plays with so we can get rid of it or store it.
Last time we successfully did that, she was _5_! Fritz just carried
out a basket full of stuff _he_ wants to get rid of. He completely
understands how it works: you get _more_ stuff for the holiday so
you need space on your shelves to store it *grin*
Boring. At least tomorrow there will be snow shoveling and sledding
and all that to do. This waiting for it to actually start snowing is
dull. I guess we could go out on a mini hike while we wait... Maybe
after lunch if enough of the rooms are cleaned.
I could do _my_ homework *grin* Kidlette typed up a project I have to
do :)

sir lala rarely lets us get rid of stuff
except for clothes

what do you have to do?
She usually refuses to let us get rid of clothes until they are
ridiculously too small or ripped up or whatever.

I have to write a poem.
I think I've always been pretty good about giving away old clothes, at
least :P For a long time they went to a family friend a few years
younger, or my cousin, then to goodwill if they didn't want them. Now
they go to a local girls' group home that m*m does hair for. Am glad if
they can find stuff they want in stuff I've outgrown or don't like
anymore :) Stuff they don't want goes on to goodwill still.

What about?
Her problem is that she has some very minor sensory issues and will
only wear very specific styles. She learned very young that it's best
to keep stuff that she _knows_ works rather than experiment :P We
finally found two brands that are almost 100 percent sure to work so
now it's just a matter of making sure the style is 'her' (color and
picture on front in particular) which is not all that difficult.
Made me laugh when I once mentioned to a relative that I had to
be careful what I bought kidlette and the person said 'she is just
a child, you put her clothes on her and tell her to wear them'
Um, yeah, until we are in the middle of the grocery store and she
takes ALL of her clothes off and REFUSES to get dressed :P~~ That's
a power struggle I don't need!
I am very happy this season to find a new store that has styles she
agrees with in patterns and colors that are 'her'. Now we have _three_
options for shopping.

It is supposed to be about winter break. I have written about xmas
morning :) I also had to find a poem that has words in it that would
make good lyrics. I picked the first stanza of Jabberwocky.
Her project is to write a poem about winter break and make sure some
part of it can be sung. She made my version easier :)
Ah, understandable.

That's almost cheating :P The Cheshire Ccat sings part of Jabberwocky in
the disney Alice in Wonderland movie! :)
