Its the hotmail account I use for newsgroups ... so if its offline - not a huge deal. If I reset a new account - doesn't much matter....
This moron is mail bombing me right now - last check was over 100 emails, so I'm not going back in for a while. his headers don't give much detail for a novice like me to go on and his website doesn't help either...

Try emailing k...@precisionweb.net. His domain is supplying compassionpower and he might be interested. If that doesn't work, we can try upstream of him. There are no hits in a spamhaus database of known spammers, so it's at least an indication that this Ken guy runs a normal ISP. It might just be a rogue user on his system.
Send him an email or give him a jingle on the phone and see what happens. Be nice, though; it's not him doing the bombing.
My reply-to address is monitored, and if you email there, we can get a more realtime contact if this isn't working well enough.

I just use a hotmail account - I used to munge the addresses - but its just easier to use a bogus account and check it every so often - many times I do get email from people here in ASD ...
The email client I use is outlook express, which allows me to pop my hotmail accounts (and access multiple email accounts). I have just disabled the newsgroup account - as it is locking up the computer and killing my bandwith whenever it tries to log in - because the mail bomb.
I will just go in off peak hours and clean it up. But - call me moody - when I get mail bombed - I get mad and I want to shut the bastards down!!! :)
Honestly - with is often as I post - it is very rare for me to even get spammed at that address. There have been a few rare occasions, and that's it.

I got a ton of spam when I used my regular email account on the newsgroups. I have a Hotmail account and a Yahoo account for those sites where you HAVE to register an email address. I munged up my reply address for posting, and my spam has dropped by about 50%. I also set up mail rules to stop the mass mailings and I use POP3 Scan Mailbox to connect and delete the junk from the mail server before it ever has a chance to get into my Mailbox.

Anyone with a Mac using Netscape who got bombed by Dr. Steve can clear the inbox as follows:
Close Communicator. Then follow the bouncing ball: System Folder/ Preferences/Netscape Users/(Your folder)/ Mail/ there they are!: all the snm files that often get corrupted. Trash the .snm files .

I've gotten none. My "From" address in news posts is fakery, but my "Reply-To" address is in the clear. The header file that spammers typically download from newsgroups with spamlist software does not get the Reply-To lines.
I got about 30 e-mails from that guy, all exactly the same, earlier today. I think he must have messed something up somewhere! Having only received 30 or so I didn't consider it a "mail bomb" and I didn't think there was any malicious intent. I just deleted them. Hope he doesn't e-mail me again.

Yep, I was yesterday. After the 3rd time MSN instant messanger alerted me he was in my in hotmail box, I just blocked him. Hotmail is good for something after all ( I hate spellchecking on Hotmail)
Thanks to Rich - who did some sluething - and pointed me in the right direction - so that I can do my own sluething in the future...
I heard back from his ISP yesterday who was quite dissapointed in what the guy was doing. The guys site has been disabled - or so it appears, as I cannot get into it today...
A little effort has resulted in another successful shutdown of a spammer. Now - lets see what happens to arron adams and if we can get him shut down too.....

Hurrah to our new Spam hunter!

Count me in for getting 13 messages from Dr. Steve.
To get my personal e mail address, you have to go to my web site. This e mail address that I post from truelo...@aol.com is blocked to all senders so I don't get SPAM.
Bizarre that anyone would think that mail bombing you would make you want to buy anything.
> Bizarre that anyone would think that mail bombing you would make you want to > buy anything.
I was thinking the same thing. Also weird how some other people think that posting their spam 50 times under different names in different (unrelated) threads would make it appear interesting or something.
