Our town of about 20,000 won the National Baseball Congress
World Series! For many years our town has been known for
good baseball! Our Bee Jays won tonight with 7 straight
wins! We have been in the Championships games many
times...with such names as Kenaii, Alaska, Fairbanks, Alaska
and other much larger cities over the U.S. Our town is
rockin' tonight! Although we've made it to the
championships so often, we hadn't won since I believe
1986. On another note ..I entered 3 of my oil painting in
our 5 State Fair. I won't know how the judging went until
tomorrow afternoon. The judging took place this p.m.....but
they keep the doors closed until tomorrow afternoon. I am
just itching to see how I came out. I am defined as an
Adult Beginner...until next year then I will be entered as
Amateur Adult. (after you have painted for 3 years you are
considered Amateur.) If a person sells for a living or
teaches ...they are considered Professional Class. I seemed
to be posting a lot today! Hope I haven't bored everyone
stiff! : )

I would just settle for one! hee hee I just got back from the fair and I won
blue in my indian hunting party landscape, red on my indian settlement, and
white on my old train depot oil. I was just walking up to see if I placed and
a couple were saying, "This couldn't have been painted by a beginner." Made
me feel somewhat badly. They were nice folks...she had entered and her's
looked very beginner. I assured them, after telling them they were mine, that
I just barely made it into the beginner division. Defined: Less than 3 years
with oils, and done in the past 2 years....no degrees in the Arts. I lacked
one month in painting 3 years so that is where they placed me. So next year
will be Amateur. What rather makes me a little upset is that there was no
grand champion ribbon awarded in my division. I don't mean to boast, but I
have always drawn and have been told that I had a lot of talent....well if you
are talented, but a beginner...I am wondering if they too, doubted that I just
started...oh well...can't take the ribbons with me anyway!!! I don't think I
will enter again...am just giving them to my kids anyway. ....maybe I'll be
Grandma "Doses" (you know Grandma Moses!)

Doe well done!! not too sure what the ribbon thing is but you got em so they
must be good ;o)
How come you aint going to enter any more???
AND why did the comment by the couple make you feel bad??? You are obviously
very good at painting it is a talent you have!! NEVER feel bad for being
good at something! Just coz they weren't as good as you........
I'm proud of your paintings and I haven't even seen them!!! ;o) But don't
belittle your work!! keep on entering! I would if my paintings were any
good!!!!

A blue ribbon is first place, red is second and white is third. I was pleased.
But, I know there was Best of Show in each division...I don't know why there
wasn't one given in my div. My blue should have gotten it. But I guess it's
not important. I don't have a scanner...but will try to post the site of one of
my pics that is on Seattle film works ...if it is still there. It is not one I
entered in the fair. In the Amateur div. I thought the judging left a lot to be
desired. : )

Yeah, I wondered about that, but that *is* what they call it...I
only remember seeing U.S. teams. But, hey! Isn't that still

Aye, I guess so! It's just that calling an internal competition the
"World Series" is one of my pet peeves, because it's kinda
saying "we are everything, no one outside counts". IMHO
anyway.

Anyway, I went to my sister-in-laws at the weekend, and had
to eat 4-cheese pizza, spaghetti bolognese, fried chicken,
garlic butter bread, salami and other such wholesome nibbles.
So, a gain for me this week I expect. ;) I'm such a wuss.

Friday,

If you are going to say "had to" at least put it in parentheses so you
know you didn't really HAVE to but you CHOSE to. Choosing is ok. It's
not right or wrong. It's a choice. We all make choices. You chose to
eat that stuff. Besides all of it is 'allowed' you just have to count
points.

Ya know one day I ate what I wanted and I counted points... I stopped
when I got to 46... it was an eye opener let me tell you.

Now no matter what I write it down and count it, how else can the journal
help me. And it is for me right. I don't share it with anyone.

hugs and love,

Nessa

*grin*

OK, I didn't have to. But it was that or lettuce. And I ain't no
Flopsy Bunny. I did keep an eye on the portion sizes, and only went
back for one second helping. Well, that was OK. I justified it with
the thought that I had to run an online gaming event for 5 hours in
the evening, and I probably wouldn't find time to eat. As it turned
out, I was correct.

The thing that annoyed me, however, was having to guess at the
calorific and saturated fat content of the various items. I'm used to
trip-trapping through ASDA, checking nutrition labels. I need to get
a Points calculator as well, cause the average item doesn't already
have WW points on it. I've taken to ... um... someone's average of a
point per 50 kcal then I add an extra one for good measure if the SF
is more than, say, 3g per 100g. Not very scientific, and probably
way off for most things, but it's the best rule I have without my
computer beside me. =)

Oh...sorry about that tempting weekend! Just get up and start over...I
was really down last week and was being so negative.
I am going to check into it, but this competition has been going on for
at least 50 years and possibly it is open globally....maybe there are no
takers...I will check.

Where do you live, Friday...if England...we have connections
there too. Our little "city" runs the annual pancake race with
Olney! That is INTERNATIONAL! hee hee After 50 plus years ...I
believe at this point we are one ahead. We go back and forth and
exchange a platter...I think it is. Doe
