Subject: Onions, Red Peppers, & Tomatoes on Maintenance Phase
Hi All:

I'm doing very well and will probably be at the maintenance phase
within 2-3 months.  Fortunately, I seem to be able to tolerate more
carbs than many while continuing to shed the fat.

I would like to add more onions, peppers and tomatoes (stewed,
not sugary sauces) to my diet . . . .   I have used these sparingly
to this point and have not noticed any ill effects.  In fact, they make
certain foods rather tasty!  But I'd like to hear your experiences--
good, bad, neutral.  Anyone stall or regress by eating these?

Pete

I've been eating onions and peppers all along (save the 2 week
Induction phase) and haven't noticed any ill effects.  I'm not a big
tomato fan, so I have no insight on those.  I also use the spice-rack
type chopped onions in my eggs, stir-fry, and sauces all the time -
delicious.

Experiment and see, that's what makes this WOE unique!

Looking at the numbers in your sig file, you can probably have
unlimited amounts of those three foods.  I know that I can.
They are all very healthy too.  Mushrooms should be OK too, at least
in moderate amounts.  I've been stable at around 152-156 for over six
months.  I also let myself have refried beans occasionally.  My rule
is just no refined starches, potatoes or sugary stuff.  I--for the
most part--avoid fruit that is high GI, in favor of berries.  I
sometimes let myself have pigout days where I gorge myself with food,
but on those days I am induction level strict about no carbs.  On
other, rarer occasions, I let myself have a have sugary treat (ice
cream/frozen custard), but on those days I stay very low calorie.
Most of the time, though,I just eat my new way, the Atkins way.
Maintenance is fun.  You get to test your limits.  Besides, if I ever
want to lose more, all I'll have to do is a few weeks of induction
combined with workouts.
