This drink is labeled as having 2 grams of carbohydrates per 8 oz serving.
Well, I stopped drinking this juice to see if I could do something about
my FBG numbers. I got a three day drop of 16 points from my average.
This morning I had a FBG of 110. I drank 8 oz of the juice. I measured
sooner rather than later because I felt that this juice would enter my
blood stream more rapidly than other foods.
At 45 minutes I had a reading of 127. Either there is a chemical in the
juice causing this, or they are lying about how many carbs there are per
8 oz.
This juice is now off my diet. BTW, I also noticed during my three days
of no juice that my reactions to all my meals had gone down.
The mantra that is described here, TEST, TEST, TEST, is very important.
I have found a serious problem in my diet. I could hardly believe it. I
thought erroneously that I could easily add this little treat to my
rather strict diet. I was very wrong.
Michael
Hi Michael,
You're fully right, anything you're not familiar with should be tested.
I don't change my pattern a lot, but when I add something new to the
pattern I gets my attention. The general rule is still, count the carbs,
and delay those fast carbs on a day.

Truth:
The two pound diet, aka 2pd etc. is quack science. It has flaws of both
fact and logic. It was invented to fit a preexisting agenda and does
not flow from evidence based on research. The diet inventor has many
times been appraised of his flaws but clings to them for reasons other
then science or valid medical practice
All of this nonsense of measure by weight or volume comes from the
agenda fitting, not well established research. But sadly even the
agenda is based on misunderstood and misapplied information. Even when
corrected, the author of the agenda for nothing but pride and vain face
saving can not deal with that truth.
The weight part came from a failed knowledge of a particular verse in
scripture. When shown to be wrong, he promptly said he had been given a
new interpretation to set the record straight. And of course this new
information led where the agenda demands.
Bottom line, ignore any reference to the two pound diet, aka 2 pd etc.
and stick with established information and sources of expert authorities
which do not include the vanity of vanity distorting reality in this
case.
There is a larger problem then misinformation obvious to anyone familiar
with the inventor's posts.
May God bless and protect and heal.
Hi Michael,
Awesome you found a probable culprit in keeping your numbers higher than
you want them!
And yes, TEST, TEST, TEST is very important. Carb count may give me a
ballpark idea whether or not a particular food is even worth trying, but
it still comes down to individual response to each food item.
Good work!

I do believe it has more than two carbs per glass.

That is what is on the label Loretta. But, I don't need to worry about
it anymore. I just won't be drinking any of it. I tend to agree with
your belief that there is more than 2 carbs per 8 oz. I suspect that
they mislabeled it in order to increase sales.
The 24 ounces was a single day.
My average was 12 ounces in a day. It was certainly causing me a problem.
Michael
I'd have done my first test at 5 minutes then 10 then 15. At 45 miutes you
might have been on the down run not the up.
I don't doubt that. The number could have been much higher. That was
supposedly from ingesting 3 simple carbs. For all I know it peaked at
140. This juice is not for me.
Michael
I gave up drinking fruit juice of any kind when I was diagnosed T2. I now
eat the whole fruit (plain) but no juice. I do drink vegetable juice.

I drink a small (3 oz) glass of either the diet cranberry(at your
suggestion) or the Crystal Light Classic Orange breakfast drink and
neither causes me any problems. In fact, this morning, after htat 107 fbg
I did test at 2 hours and was at 91, diet juice, cottage cheese, yogurt,
rasberries and blueberries and 2 cups of absolutelyl awful insatnt coffee
as I don't cook on Saturdays. Try drinkg a small glass aand see if it is
OK.

That would be illegal. Do you really think they would do that and risk
a huge lawsuit?
Kurt
Yes. Lawsuits are little to no consumer defense. All
they have to do is settle with the plaintiff for a
reasonable (read small) amount and ask the court to
seal the records.
Remember all those Fords that exploded into a fireball
in rear end collisions? Something like that should have
bankrupted Ford in that day. It didn't. The settlements
cost Ford less than the fix. And in the end the fix was
sliding a piece of rubber hose over the protruding bolts.

Raw pineapple kills my mouth so I don't eat it. I used to be able to eat
canned, but don't like it well enough to want to try it now. Carrots and
apples are fine. I can eat a whole apple and oodles of carrots. Lentils?
Forget it. But beans are fine.

I love bananas too. I occasionally eat one thin slice when I am preparing
my husband's cerial and fruit breakfast. I have my cottattage cheese,
yogurt and fruit one at the same time . We both have berries or part of a
peach etc, but only he has the half a banana:-( He usually eats the
other half during the day as a snack.
Wendy
Yeah, I had my first banana in 5 years or so last week at an office
Halloween party. Somebody had brought cut up fruit for a chocolate
fondue thing, so I grabbed one little slice of banana. (I had brought
sugar-free pumpkin cheesecake, so I could have a decent amount of
dessert.)
