A new doctor I saw this week - a kidney specialist - told me it most
likely is diabetic neuropathy. I have some neuropathy in my feet
that's almost continuous, but the waist tinglies are still only rare,
but when I do feel them they drive me nuts.
Anyone else experience this?

OOF :-)

Hi, Leslie,
Sorry to hear of your problem and hope you find a remedy for it.
I've never had neuropathy around the waist. I did have shingles on my back.
Unbearable! I've had neuropathy in my feet and lower legs for years. It has
struck while I was asleep, causing severe cramping, which we've dealt with
by my wife giving my legs and feet rather severe massage and then by me
(with her assistance) walking it off. Now that I've developed venostasis,
the neuropathy seems to have gone away.
Take care and good luck.

Nope. Not me.
What is venostasis? I had stastis dermatitis caused by venous
insufficiency. Just wondering if something similar?
Today I did something stupid. Got Angela off to school. I normally eat my
breakfast then go back to bed. But I heard noises outside. Looked out and
it was the gardener, come many hours early. Decided to stay up so I could
pay him. But because I knew I was going back to bed, I didn't put on my
compression hose. Mistake!
Was up for not quite 2 hours without them. Legs began to cramp miserably
when I got in bed. Both feet were pointed and I couldn't get them to go
flat on the floor. Tipped over my laundry cart trying to maintain balance.
Yow!

Sure sounds similar, Julie. Now I have to be concerned with phlebitis?

Usually, when I get up, I sit and watch the news, have a cigarette and a
cup of coffee and check my FBG. Jun has finally convinced me to put my feet
up when I'm sitting. Big help!

At least you're still with us!
Very helpful. Thank you.

*chuckle*
I do wonder at the people (and there do seem to be specific people) who
think they have to reply to every single post, regardless of whether or
not they have anything to contribute on the subject of the post.
Sometimes someone will say something along the lines of "I don't know
anything about xyz, but maybe..." and fill in some absurd and
dangerously incorrect idea. Ah, Usenet!
I hope you're having a good day. I'm taking a break in preparations for
the family celebration.
