Isn't it the dumbest thing in the world that certain drugs are illegal? Some of those drugs are so tempting... pot, LSD, mushrooms, exctacy...the legal drug that Cyberdroog talked about a few years sounded so exciting... It would be nice to try that... We have such a crazy world, that decides what should be legal and what shouldn't... humans have always wanted to be intoxicated and always will... at most it should be a public health issue, not a legal issue...

the laws vary from country to country , if there's a drug you want to try , go to a country where its legal

then why did you even post all the rest of what you said and , you can get caught but be willing to take the consequences , or you can go somewhere and not have to worry about it at all
Our culture (or at least the people in power) has such simplistic, black and white, "just say no" attitudes about drugs... the desire to alter conciousness, escape mundane and dull and dreary reality, or simply have fun is a normal, natural desire that people have always had and always will have... It's true that alcohol, yoga, meditation, dreams, shamanism or simply floating in a pool can bring on an altered state, but not the same way that drugs can...

I gather that a lot of overdoses occur when a batch of street heroin is unexpectedly pure. The user puts in their usual amount, but gets a lot more of the drug than they usually do. Apparently, people with access to diamorphine (pharmaceutical quality heroin) can last for decades.

just be what I feel like saying right now, okay?
It only makes sense to legalize it, and regulate it, so people can be as safe as possible... and drug related violence would most likely deminish as well... I know, that would be too *reasonable*... at least the penalties for marijuana use is less draconian in some states... Here in CT, for example, you have to pay a fine if you are caught in possesion of marijuana, you don't face a possible jail sentance any longer, thank goodness...

Alcohol abuse is by far the most destructive, if only because it is
the drug most often abused.
Hi Jack... yeah, it is so absurd that pot, which is a relatively benign, mild drug, is illegal, while alcohol, which is much more destructive to one's mind and body if used in large quantities on a regular basis, is legal... both drugs should be legal... perhaps ALL drugs should be legal... It is true that Obama hasn't exactly been a brave reformer in this area, but needless to say, Romney wouldn't be any better...

MJ has been controlled by the feds since... I think 1934? I believe
it's criminalization had something to do with the folk who were seen
as typical MJ smokers at that time--black jazzers and Mexican
immigrants.

lets just make everything legal and let it all become a mixed bag

not just drugs , everything , we'll even make breaking the law legal , theft , legal , drunk driving , legal ,
everything , there is no more anything against the law , just one gigantic bag of whatever
