I have Type II Diabetes as a direct results of stress and being
overweight. I don't think it was just a mere coincidence that I was
diagnosed with diabeties within 6 months after my ex left. Still that has
nothing to do with what I'm posting about, just being chatty.

I was recently told by my doctor that I was borderline anemic. It
doesn't surprise me since I've been forever telling him I'm always tired.
He seems to be not hugely concerned at this point just told me to take an
iron supplement. But because I can't leave enough alone I looked up
anemia and diabetes and there seems to be a correlation there with kidney
disease. Whoa, that's scary. Plus anemia can cause rapid heart beat and
I definitely have that. I'm wondering about how it will affect my working
out and if I should be concerned about it. The I've been dealing the last
year or so with increased cravings for salt. I even like the taste of salt
on ice cubes. I was wondering if that might be connected to the Anemia
since anemia is not always just a shortage of iron in the blood but other
minerals as well, like maybe potassium. It's providing me with some
anxiety at the moment since - my mom had complete kidney failure and was
on dialysis and also had problems with her potassium levels.

I wish I could just call my doctor up and ask him questions.

Refering to an earlier post I made. I definitely need some flowers
to calm anxiety.

Grace, remember the guy in "Three Men in a Boat" who decided he had every
complaint in the Medical Dictionary. Trust your doctor. When in my 30's,
I took a test which showed increased blood corpuscle sedimentation. That
could be a sign of arthritis, but it had to be seen in its context, and in
context, it meant nothing.

My wife has Type II Diabetes, but needs no medication.

Doug.

Grace,

I say go with your gut feeling and pursue the testing. It will make
you feel better knowing, one way or the other, imho. Plus it's your
money and your time--you have the right to know what's going on with
your body, and if it is truly a medical issue, catching it early is
certainly beneficial.
