Having attend a few huge seminars, and my husband even more, where part of the
program was talking to people about (health) problems, we both were amazed
about the responses we received when we mentioned IBD. How many people have
friends or relatives with IBD is astonishing. Both of us have been consistently
advised to take, yes indeed, USANA products. It seems their loved ones only got
significantly better after taking those. Sadly most did not know what was taken
so I can't help you there. But if anyone was wondering if they are worth the
cost, it sure seems to be the case. So far, the seminars were in Alberta so we
thought maybe once known in the region it snowballs, and of course the lash out
here from posting something like that has prevented me from posting this sooner.
But, now recently in L.A. and on the cruise people from the US had the same
advice and one person we talked to had crohn's himself and only after using
USANA for a couple of months was he able to leave the house again and is even
working now. Snort if you want, that is what people told us and since hubby
helped to kill file the ones I wanted to, I now feel free to post this info
here.
In any case, proper nutrition is no doubt of he utmost importance and products
from Wall mart, Walgreens etc. are indeed useless. Make sure to get a good
quality product. Which ones are good in your area is for you to figure out, but
obviously Usana is doing something right. I will be buying for sure.
Wishing you all a healthier new year

Yes, I still do take a few vitamins. With no ill effects.
(A multivitamin, a B-Complex, Zinc, Saw Palmeto-that's a man thing because I
have a prostate)
I recommend that if you are going to take vitamins, you look for them at a
vitamin store/natural food store. They most likely would carry vitamins made
by a number of good companies.
I have been in remission for two years or so.
I take Colazal, one of the 5-ASA drugs.
It's what works for me.

What you are saying sounds interesting and encouraging, but you must keep in mind that it is still anecdotal evidence.
Without proper double blind studies with a significant number of people the usefulness of this information is
questionable. What other medications are these people on? I for one have never heard of USANA until I came to this group
a few years ago and I have never heard of them outside the Internet. What types of seminars are you going to? If they
are marketing types, then that would explain a lot. I use to go to a lot of marketing seminars 10 years ago but I got
sick and tired of all the hype, lies and misinformation. With IBD it is very difficult to accept anecdotal evidence. The
placebo rate has been shown in many proper studies to be as high as 30 to 40 percent.

I wish I had stopped at the earliest warning signals but I was lost in that
sea of hope that most of us have fallen into from time to time in our search
for health. Vitamins can be terrific IF tolerated and not contraindicated
by any of your prescription meds so it is ALWAYS a good idea to have your
physician's input and dosage recommendations.

Translation: I didn't bother to read the scientific literature to see
if this racket's claims are supported by actual data--data derived from
testing the merchandise on actual people with actual medical problems.
I just believed everything the company told me, and questioned nothing.
People, maybe, but not scientists. The PubMed database shows not a
single independent study has ever been conducted on USTANKA
merchandise. Not one. So much for "what science is teaching us," as Ken
likes to put it.
Just my opinion...

PS: This is from "Sanoviv's" web site:
The skin is the largest detoxification organ of the body. Dry skin
brushing is an important part of the detoxification process because it
removes dead skin cells, improves circulation, opens pores, and
increases the skin's ability to remove toxins. The only equipment
needed is a natural bristle body brush, preferably one with a
detachable long handle. It is important to keep the brush clean, as it
will be removing dead skin and impurities from the body. Every few
days, wash the brush with a mild soap, rinse well, towel dry, and allow
24 hours for further drying before using it again.
Benefits of Dry Skin Brushing
Removes dead skin and other impurities
Keeps pores open for better toxin elimination
Stimulates and increases blood circulation throughout the body
Stimulates hormone and oil producing glands
Rejuvenates the nervous system by stimulating nerve endings in the skin
Helps prevent colds, especially when used with hot/cold showers
Makes skin look younger, fresher, and softer
Dry Skin brushing is of particular importance during fasting, when the
body is releasing toxins.

Anyway, the dry brushing is only for external "detoxifying." For the
internal kind, Sanoviv uses wheatgrass enemas. (And you thought you
weren't getting your $1,000/day worth...)
Back then they also admitted that they'd do plastic surgery if the
"guest" requested it; this latest version of the Website appears to
have hushed up any mention of that.

"The tone frequencies are transmitted to the patient acoustically via
headphones or by means of a phonator. For color therapy, the color
information can be applied using bipolar therapy electrodes or
magnetic-field probes.
"In addition, the device has over 50 pre-stored therapy program
sequences. The program sequences are designed to address a wide variety
of conditions from neurosis, stress, shock, depression, sleep
disorders, allergies, asthma, heart, liver and kidney disturbances,

I do take a number of supplements and I agree with you that quality matters.
I've always bought my supps at reputable health foods stores such as Whole
Foods, formerly Bread and Circus in the Boston area, which even stopped
selling margarine for Pete's sake. Anyway I'm fairly confident that their
products such as Solgar, Country Life or Rainbow Light contain what they say
they do since there hasn't been any evidence to the contrary. :)

When I wrote this I was not on USANA at all yet. We just got from well over 100
people we talked to the name USANA ( that was to many to ignore). Actually the
idiot GI I had told me to go off everything I was on. My husband wasn't happy
but I thought it was for possible interference. Later I found out he "thought it
was a waste of money" ( BS of course, he gladly takes my money in his pocket
!!!) I since have developed a real bad case of 3 types of hives ( ?? we think it
is). I am already 5 months on the waiting list for a dermatologist ( next week,
and as long but a May appointment with a allergist). My GP thinks taking vit/
mineral in large doses will be excellent again; he knows it took me from being
bedridden for over 2 years to being able to shop a bit every other day. But he
wanted me to wait till I see the dermatologist ( obviously the hives would be
blamed on the vit/minerals one takes duh! Seems all specialist here have a
version of doing that type of blaming).
Before I became bedridden I too thought vit C is vit C right??? Well, it didn't
work. I decide to listen to some of the people who did get better and said you
need a good brand name; the rest is a waste of money. I didn't even know I had
crohn's but knew I needed much more then others to make a difference. I
researched a lot and 2 years later I walked down the stairs*. My general health
has gone down very steadily since seeing the GI and having not only quit the
vit/ minerals, but the GI medications have done a real bad number to my health.
Now with the hives I am scared to start any, but I have to.

Susan, if it works then that is great. Do you feel you are at optimum?? Most
doc, incl specialist know very little about vit/ minerals. All they know if what
they learned in a class of about 4 hours length, and what they themselves have
learned, but often not in regard to certain illnesses. One really has to learn
themselves. I really hope you are on other groups also. This one is
brainscrabled as I call it. Unless deep down you feel that if you try something
and it doesn't work for you, you are a failure instead of seeing it as
"education costs money"; but I just don't see you like that. Others here, yes I
see the type of thinking ........
Will let you know once started on USANA; hopefully I can start end of the month.
Have to find one yet, except one, none of these people were distributors, and
she lived 3 hours drive from here. to far for me.
* I did not take Usana products at that time. But I did take various different
brands depending on the item taken. None from wall mart, wall greens etc. I did
those before I started to get better.
Take care, hope your surgery goes well and that you can plan another cruise. I
bought mine from sky auction for relatively cheap. Maybe an idea unless you get
it even cheaper.

I hope they find out what the hives are about. Had some before with
allergic reaction and it's no fun. Mine was from a plant I brushed into and
another time from fire ants that bit me. UM MOM Susan

Now, why am I convinced John will not take me up on this offer, but still will

TEN THOUSAND John, think about it. Could buy you lots of USANA stuff :-)
P.S. Ken, you better not be my long lost cousin :-)
NOTHING
You're a quack, one has to only look at any of your past posts to
recognize that. You buy completely into junk science over established

Why, I think following a diet based of your blood type is a brilliant

Anyway I'll answer your question even if I'm not the "right" Jeff.
No, I don't think their products are better than the ones I can get here
locally at my usual health food stores in Boston, but I don't doubt that
they are better than what you would get at WalMart. Personally I've always
been more attracted to products, brands, or teachers who take a more humble
approach. USANA seems to put themselves up on a pedistal and use a lot of
marketing to sell their products. Not that the pharma industry doesn't do
the same thing though.
