I cleaned the smaller covered area of the outside chicken coop yesterday and was in the middle of moving the stump we leave there to sit on so we can watch the birds and I slipped in the mud. I landed hard against the stump with my backside and then landed on my butt and my right arm. I sprained that wrist a while back and just bought a brace; I never went and got it checked. It bugs me off and on. My backside, however, is not happy. I have a sideways bruise about 8 inches long and it's probably 2-3 inches wide except in the middle, where it's bigger.
I believe that I at least bruised my tailbone. It HURTS. If it hurts this much to bruise it when I'm on narcotics, what would it have felt like if I wasn't on them? My youngest daughter did hers a few years back but the bruise she got was about 1/4 or less the size of mine.
Instead of sitting or lying around and fussing, though, knowing already that position and activity level really usually doesn't affect the fact that I'm going to hurt whether or not I like it, I did make myself get up today and do some of the things I usually do. It makes no sense to sit around and then get sore from not moving. That just makes it worse.
I did have to take 1/2 a 7.5/750 Lortab last night but haven't had one since. I'm going to need one soon, though. I can feel it.
If I sit in a hard chair on a round pillow (my equivalent of a donut cushion) it helps my butt feel better. However, due to my reaction to this dose of Methadone, my feet swell up like dinner rolls rising on a baking sheet. If I put my feet up, my butt hurts.
Hubby was messing with me yesterday - I've become quite the klutz since I started taking more meds than I eat - and he said, "I can't take you anywhere!" I looked back and said, "Well, it looks like you can't leave me here, either."
I'm going to see my doc when I can get in this week. I don't want to and I'm not sure how it's going to feel driving my stick shift car but I need to see her and I'll be careful and drive like a geezer if I need to. After a couple weeks when I can tolerate the manipulation, I'll go to my chiropractor and have her abuse me a bit because I'm pretty sure I'm out of alignment now.
This also made my shoulders tense and my head hurts. It's not the AFP. This is a headache.
Ah, life is wonderful.
I hope you all are having a better week than I am.
The tail bone has gotta be the worst thing you can injure. You're a nurse and you know there's nothing for it but time. I took a slide down about 4 steps right smack on my ass, about 2 years ago and it still hurts some days, and it refuses to be buried under any pain reliever. We are coming in to summer though and a quick search of your local dollar store ought to find you one of those kiddies floats that are the little rings (horsie head is optional) so you should be able to find a little cheap cushion for your tushion. At least you can say a lot of your pain is now behind you.
Heal quickly--og

Man! I hope you feel better ASAP!! My mother broke her tailbone many years ago. On black ice, she fell straight down onto her butt getting into her car. It was very painful! For a couple of weeks she couldn't get out of bed except to pee.
I hope the rest of the week works out better for ya!

OG, as usual very goood idea. I am so glad that it seems your mood is a little better. I hope I am not just wishing it to be so, but you were funny! 'cushion for your tushion', etc.

Great idea! I can do that. I'll forego the horsie head, though....my stupid cats would freak out.

------------------------- OW (((((((((((((((Trisha)))))))))))))))))))) & LoL ((((((Og))))))!!!! ("...pain is now BEHIND you"!!!)! The cushion is a great idea...ice too. owowowow. I bounced (literally, twice!) when tossed off a horse once...landing right on my tailbone! It didn't break it but due to my EDS (too loose-jointed & stuff moves out of joint or place a lot) my tailbone Bent....God, I couldn't sit for months except on the very edge of a chair w/pillows & a 'ring' ! I mentioned it to my chiropracter who was from the old school where they actually taught them to (ugh!) go in anally to fix the tailbone like in this situation. I let him & the tailbone snapped right back into place, no more pain! ow, I still cringe thinking about that, both the fall & the fix!!! Feel better soon & be careful! ( I know)! xoxo Kindly, LoriBoB

"Yes, og, I have chickens. 12 hens, a rooster, and 36 chicks at this point in time."
Sounds like to me you do a bit more than .. "watch the birds" ..
Sounds like to me you raise them to eat their eggs and maybe .. them.
You know that swift kick in the arse you .. got .. ?
You may have well deserved it ..
Imho ..
You probably taught your .. kids .. your .. ways .. too ..

Hey Ironman, That was mean & unnecessary & there are better ways to make your statement...like going back into your own little post realm where most folks can either read u or not, rather than hassling a well-loved & protected member w/new pain on top of chronic! Sheeesh! LoriBoB
Trisha I split my tail bone back in 66.. It healed little by little and the worst time the pain would start up in that area would be at my monthly time. Had hyster at age 38 and now at age 68 it acts up at my monthly time. Pooie on all the symptons that are supposed to go over the hill after the change...I and some other women that I know still have some of the crap that comes with it.. The best out of all the O sit-on's is the red tough rubber one. You can adjust the amount of air. The reason that I suggest that you get this kind is I took my cheap swim one to a local pizza place and as I was enjoying my delicious big piece B A M it blew !!
Good luck how ever you help yourself with the pain. Pain pills didnt do didly squat for the pain...
