I have to get a portfolio together to apply for a job with a video game
manufacturer. I'm going to put it on a web site.
How many pieces should I have, and WHAT should I have?
Cori, very confused...

I've never done one on the web, but mine basically has work that shows I
am capable of writing (descriptions, explanations, history, etc.), line
drawing, complex pen & ink, inking, freehand, sketching, watercolor,
pencil, and so on. I used smaller pieces so I could put 2 pieces per
page in my portfolio, a total of 24 pieces.

What exactly would this job entail? Sometimes a piece which involved
research is important, if the job would involve any sort of research.

All I know is that it's for a 2D artist in Photoshop and Illustrator. I
suspect that it's doing backgrounds and textures if that helps.

Sounds like a nice job, good luck! Well, I googled online art portfolios
and looked at quite a few different ones - maybe just surfing and
checking out what a variety of people have done would give you an idea of
basic layouts and what you like.

Pick your best pieces done in photoshop & illustrator, things that show a
good range, as well as discipline, and perhaps something which shows your
ability with texture, light, and perspective. (I'm still struggling with
building a website for my artwork, I'm completely new to doing stuff like
this online).

Thanks! (More drawing to do) Funny thing is I know this outfit and
the person in charge of hiring. I used to water their plants.
(I wonder if she'd remember me) I'll see if she does.
