Polyps?

I am a breast cancer survivor (of only 7 months) and have been having
troubles gynecologically so I've just had a curette (D&C) to check
things out. My doctor was too busy to see me but the nurse interpreted
his writing and told me I had polyps (not sure whether in cervix or
endometrium).

My question is... I'm finding it hard to wait for pathology results and
need to know more about polyps. Is there a good website on this topic? I
know with colon cancer that a polyp doesn't necessarily turn into colon
cancer but colon cancer (according to my reference)is associated with
polyps. Is this the same for cervical or endometrium cancer? Are they
also called neoplasms? What scientific (medical) names would I look up?
