Frank (aka) "STEW" [CCKMA] Cancer Can Kiss My Ass
Hi Frank - it's good to hear from you.
Try cold club soda (or something fizzy) for the thick stuff
There's more here - you may want to print up.
Compiled from input from various patients and Steph.

Some of the things there cause a sting before pain relief.
(hurts to get to the good part).
If there's anything that might conflict with your current meds, ask your
doctor first.
I hate to hear you're suffering, but remember you're going for a cure.
You'll kick it.

Hi Frank,
Sorry to hear that things are tough, but remember you're a tough guy too.
If things get too bad, change your boots to steel caps and take a good long
swing.
Hugs

I had an esophagus burn that started at the end of my radiation,
Blended concoctions work pretty good. I survived on scrambled eggs,
fortified milk shakes, and mashed potatoes. Popsicles also did pretty
good for moisture and the cold is soothing. Yogurt and chocolate pudding
(no not mixed together) also worked. Anything can be whirred in a
blender. Vegies and some meats do well too. Experiment. It will give
you something to do with your spare time. :=)
My worst time came about a week after the treatments stopped, and lasted
about a week. It was several weeks before I could comftorably eat
"solid" foods. Even then there were some things that took longer to
comfortably swallow
Good luck. Keep us informed

"I have the sore throat from hell. Man I had no idea.
So far 10 radiation treatments localized at the apex of my neck.
Onc RX some Stomata Cocktail <sp> taste like what I would imagine
kerosene to taste like, thick orange putrid crap, swish? swish? the
crap is to thick to swish gargle or anything else.
...
Anyone have any ides on how to do the next 4 weeks and do it easier?
Prep secrets anything to help the throat and the rest from the burn
that is yet to come."
Hi Frank,
I'm guessing you already have the recipe for making the soothing and
debriding mouthwash from water, baking soda (bicarbonate of soad), and salt
? Janet Wilder and J, I believe, have posted this recipe several times
here, but let me know if you don't have it.
Nestle makes a very good nutritional powder containing fats, carbs, and
vitamins, in addition to protein which is available here, from doctors and
hospitals in Thailand, under the brand name "Nutren Optimum." This was (and
is) a major component of my diet : I take it mixed in with soy-milk, a brand
of soy-milk that has some whole-milk solids already mixed in for smoothness.
The soy-milk/Nutren blend (laced with some honey, some cinnamon powder, some
cardamom powder to taste) makes a deliciouis drink that I can drink without
irritation of my still reactive throat (I'm four months and a half months
post RT and chemo).
Oatmeal seems to be another food I can get down when mixed with a little
butter, soy-milk, and sugar. And mashed bananas.
Of course smoothies made with fruit, yoghurt.
Let's keep on kicking Cancer in the bum :)
best, Uncle Sally

Might as well post it, US or wait till Friday and "fao Frank with it..
I did not take note of it, although it's a common rinse for soreness of the
throat or esophagus, we'll hear you out.
I 'll put it in the "Cares for mouth, throat, nose ' post for next time's post.
I don't know if it's strong enough for Frank.
He's having 5 weeks of five days of Radiation with three days of a chemo combo,
followed by surgery and then an additional two weeks of radiation and 4
additional chemo sessions.
