Perhaps the greatest of us has fallen silent.

I received word today that Steve Jordan died on September 8, 2011.

You may recall that Steve was 68 years old when diagnosed in 2003. His
numbers were, Stage T2bNxMx, PSA 5.7, and Gleason 4+5=9. His initial
therapy was cryotherapy in November 2003.

By March 2004, his PSA was 1.24 and 3.5 in June. He started taking Casodex
and had a Zolodex implant combined with IMRT. He also went on Trelstar
January 2005 and went off ADT in March 2006 after a year of undetectable for
a year. If he were alive, he would scold me for using that term
"undetectable" for a PSA of <0.10 :-) But his PSA was back up to 0.98 in
May 2008 and he went back on Trelstar and Casodex. Then he stopped the
Casodex and continued Trelstar and Adovart. He was undetectable again in
October 2008 and stopped Trelstar. But, his PSA rose to 0.44 one month
later and he went back on Trelstar. I do not recall him reporting a PSA
since July 2009, but during July 2011 he reported that his ADT was failing.
I haven't heard from him since.

In life, Steve was an air crash investigator and claims adjuster. He was a
precise man and demanded precise communications. He dedicated himself to
helping prostate cancer victims, not just here on this newsgroup. I don’t
know about his family or friends, but I feel like I have lost a friend.

May you rest in peace, Steve J., and I sincerely hope our Lord's perpetual
light shines upon you.

That's a particularly damned shame. On balance, his contributions made
him a very valuable member here. His bold presence and insistence on
rigor will be great loss indeed.

I remember Steve. Diagnosed in the same time period. He kept me
postive with encouragement and hope and honest about the disease at
the same time. I exchanged some private emails to him a couple times.
God Bless Steve Jordan. One that cared.

He was a main player in this group.
He will be missed by many!
He had some pedantic views (as others do). We exchanged emails for
some time and then we had some differences.

I don't know what happened to him. He "dropped out" concerning several of
his associates and when they found him it was his obituary.

That's too bad! He was a distinctive voice in the forum here, and I
was grateful for his advice, both public and private. May he rest in
peace.

I know you do, Sue. Unfortunately, based on what little information he
released about himself, I suspect we were his family. And Ralph and the
various victims in and around Scottsdale.

I am really sorry to hear this. Steve posted answers to several of my
queries over the years. I will miss him sorely, as will many of us I'm
sure.

Damn, Steve J will be missed. He was one of the many that helped me back
in 2008 when I was making my decision of whether to undergo SRT or not.
He was a pillar of this group. Sorry to hear of his passing.

I looked up PCAinAZ.org, the prostate cancer US TOO chapter in Arizona
in which Steve was a member. Ralph Valle told me what he knew about
Steve's death.

He wrote:

------
I am Ralph Valle, one of the facilitators of the pcainaz.org site. Steve
participated at the bulletin board here under the name Esteban and was a
constant participant of the international chatroom held at the site
every Saturday.

His last participation was August 13 and when he failed to participate
on August 20 I called him on the phone and left a message. We had no
answer. Because he lived alone we were concerned. We left several phone
messages and still no answer.

Not having his address, I decided to call one of his doctor's office and
explained the situation. Because of privacy laws we were unable to get
his address. Weeks passed and as a group we feared the worst. Finally an
obituary appeared on the city paper.

I called the number provided, but they were more interested in us
providing information than them giving any. In summary we do not know
what happened to Steve. Whatever happened did not kill him immediately
as his death was listed as September 8. The only sure thing is that he
did not die of prostate cancer, but we do not know the cause of death.
It has been a sad situation as he was a very good contributor to the
site and to many other places in which he participated. He will be missed...

Best regards,

RalphV

much as a real obituary....

Wow, I haven't read the group posting for a while and was shocked to
see this post. Muy condolences to his family if they ever frequented
this forum.
