After a few hours of frustration, I finally managed to read news in
Thunderbird!

I used to use Windows Outlook Express. Then I switched my primary
computer to Linux, which doesn't run Outlook Express, but Thunderbird
works the same both on Linux and Windows, so I could use it on both.
Now Outlook Express is defunct. It changed to Windows Mail, which also
went defunct, and the last I heard Microsoft was telling users to switch
to Windows Live Mail. I guess that's to distinguish the product from
the previous two now Windows Dead Mail programs.
