Kidding, ok? I am in Ontario and have been on here almost 7
years........omigawd, can't believe it has been that long!! But they are
simply the best.....with the odd exception, grin.
In Toronto we have Sunnybrook and Princess Margaret which are the best
cancer hospitals in Canada (imo) and you may get info from websites
connected to them. I can look up Nfld to see what is available there for
*get-together* support groups.

website of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI) at:

There are answers to just about any conceivable PCa question.
I also strongly recommend
_A Primer on Prostate Cancer_ 2nd ed., subtitled "The Empowered
Patient's Guide" by medical oncologist and PCa specialist Stephen
B. Strum, MD and PCa warrior Donna Pogliano. It is available from
the PCRI website and the like, as well as Amazon (30+ five-star
reviews), Barnes & Noble, and bookstores. A lifesaver, as I very
well know.

Lots of good groups out there. You can also check out the "New"
Prostate Cancer Info Link at: http://prostatecancerinfolink.ning.com.
I do not know why they put 'New' in quotes.
If you are on Facebook, you can find a support group there, though the
discussion are not nearly as in-depth as the ones you will find here
or at the Info Link site -- Facebook does not appear to lend itself to
that sort of interaction. There's a high amount of garbage
misinformation there, too.
At what stage are you in terms of diagnosis, treatment, prognosis?
Depending on where you are in terms of dealing with the disease, we
can offer different types of advice.

some of you provided are exactly the type I am looking for. Some I've seen
before and some others are new, so that's great! I don't really provide the
diagnostic/prognostic info some tend to do; call it my web-paranoia, but
suffice to say I am post-op with a good pathology report and beginning the
post-op series of ongoing PSA checks. Thanks to Heather, my fellow
Canuckian, but I am very aware of the support groups and information sources
we have as Newfoundlanders and Labradorians [note I didn't use the term
newfie? ;o) ] having been a member of them and also involved in the "Ride
for Dad" prostate cancer motorcycle fund raiser for some years. But thanks
for the offer to find them for me. Perhaps I can offer some insight into our
situation here, if someone needed it? I think I'll check out the other sites
you good folks indicated may interest me, and drop by here from time to time
to see what's cooking. Thanks again, and Happy New Year to you all. Long may

I share that with you, but maybe for a different reason. I don't care
who knows about the details of my medical life; that's just biology, and
in this forum that's often relevant to facts or opinions I'm offering
or receiving. I conceal my real identity here only because individual
stalkers have tracked and harassed me in internet forums after learning
elsewhere that some of my political views are right of center, and I
conceal my e-mail address because my ISP called me years ago and asked
me to change my address because thousands of robot-generated e-mail spam
per day was clogging their servers.
Contrary to the potential embarrassment factor in revealing my cancer
and its impacts here and in person, I've seen much positive come of it
both here and in the real world. Friends and sometimes casual
acquaintances, of both genders, have asked some pretty frank, sometimes
intimate, questions -- any of which I could have sidestepped if I
suspected their motives -- because they have a relevant concern about
themselves, a loved one, or me. Many people seem more willing to discuss
tough issues with a paisano than with a doctor.
Particularly in this forum, we've seen relevant and helpful discussions
get really, REALLY, *REALLY* intimate, with only one man running for the
hills with a bag over his head and his hands in the fig leaf position.
His concern was that his teen-age daughter might get upset about seeing
grumpy limp old men and their frustrated wives discussing solutions to
their grumpiness and frustration.

From the sound of it, you have it all under control. Particularly as you

in Newfoundland having hosted the CPCN conference twice. You have a good
start with RP - I made the mistake to have radiation - that was bad
advice 11 years ago. The best source for information to keep recurrence
away is probably Dr Charles "Snuffy" Myers at www.prostateforum.com he
has been trying to keep his PCa from recurring for over 10 years.
