This study reported that men who added dutasteride (Avodart is a brand
name for it) had a significant reduction in PSA increase and in disease
progression as compared to men on Lupron alone.

I TAKE IT ALL BACK!!!

The study cited above was paid for by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the makers
of Avodart. The professors who signed their names to the article
disclosed significant financial relationships with GSK and other drug
companies. The principal author is a paid consultant to GSK.

The disclosures at the end of the article show that some GSK employees
participated in the study and one Tony Reardon, working for a company
that turns out to be a pharmaceutical company public relations firm,
provided "medical writing support".

I was taken in by just reading the introductory material.

Now I don't believe a word they say.

The next time any of you fill a prescription for Avodart and wonder why
the price is so high, keep in mind all of the consultants and public
relations men whose salaries you are paying.
