Kevin - Taxotere number 6

Kevin had his sixth Taxotere infusion last week and as usual the only
side effects were a bit more fatigue and about a week of itching. For
the itching he can take Benadryl and our pharmacist suggested Sarna
lotion, which has a topical anesthetic in it and seems to work very well.

His PSA is down to 37.4, a slow decline, but at least going in the right
direction. The med. onc. is ok with this, since other indicators are
very positive, such as his pain being minimal and often gone and also
the Alkaline Phophatase is now in the normal range and still going down.

The Sept. CT scans showed that there is "retroperitoneal abdominal and
pelvic lymphadenopathy" and gave the measurements for two nodes. The
Jan. CT scans, the most current, did not mention them at all and the
med. onc. after looking at the films said he couldn't see them at all,
so this shows that the Taxotere is working. In 2 or 3 months Kevin will
have more CT scans and a bone scan. I don't know who was more pleased
with this news, the med. onc. or us.lol

We discussed how long Kevin will be doing chemo and the answer was as
long as it is working and as long as Kevin is tolerating it so well.lol
The med. onc. still says that Abirertorone should be available by the
end of 2010 and mentions something about a clinical trial of Taxotere
plus Abirertorone. So for now we are settling in and planning on doing
chemo every three weeks.

We are leaving in the morning for a short cruise and a visit to friends
in Florida and will be home 4 days before the next Taxotere session.
Can't wait to get on our ship and do nothing but rest and relax!!

Thanks Alan. The cruise was very good and most importantly very restful.
The visit to our friends afterwards was also very good and we now know
where we want to move when Kevin retires.
