Ian,
Congratulations on the birth of your son. I'm very sorry you can't
afford to see him. I don't understand at all what money has to do with
it, and it's none of my business, but if you want to talk about it...?
Best wishes,

What does Kalen think about this?
I didnt choose it (although I think its OK)
I don't understand this. Am I supposed to think something? I knew
from the day I first started talking to Ian that he had a baby on the
way. I am happy for him becoming a father. I am sad that he is not
able to be with his son. Am I expected to feel otherwise?

May I try to clarify things a little bit? My knowledge is sketchy, but
I'll do my best.
Ian married an American after having met her online. After a while, the
woman decided she didn't want him any more, and he had to leave. She was
carrying his child when he left.
Now that the child has been born, Ian is back in England and doesn't
have the money to fly to New York to see his son.

Ian can't afford it. It costs a lot to fly to the US from England. We
will do what we can to get him/us there within the year. If we're very
lucky we may get to go to Autreat at the same time. :)

That's kewl you know someone with almost the same birthday. As it
turns out, Ian and I have now each had our first child at precisely
the same age. Within 3 hours, actually. Quite the coincidence. :)

Well, Kalen, alot of women would feel resentment or anger. You and Ian got
together after the the baby was concieved so you have a wonderful and
understanding attitude. If you and Ian got together first, THEN a baby was
conceived that would be a different story. I agree with you that it sad he
can't be with his new son.
Kat
Well of course that would be entirely different! But I know he
wouldn't do something like that, so I don't have to worry. :)

Um... HUH?? If Kalen was the mother, what do you mean by 'what would Kalen
think about this'?! Perhaps elated that she just brought a new life into
the world? (which she did about 4 years ago, but not recently) Did I miss
something or I am just confused as usual?!
By the way, Ian. Congratulations!
Did Ian post a pic and I missed it? I wanna see, I wanna see!!
I'm not with that stinkin' AOL,(sorry, Kat!) and I didn't get it either!!
Someone repost the link so Kat and I can see. WAAAA!! I'm feeling so left

If there was ever a coincidence, however, it would be this... Kalen and I
both had our first child at *exactly* the same age as each other (within 3

"It", to give that context for the rest of the group, is because I told
Elaine by phone that there would be something mentioned in the group.

Kalen,
Not everyone reads, or even receives, every post. I didn't know until
Alwyn replied to my post that Trevor was born in the U.S. And anyone
who didn't read Alwyn's post, or this one, and who wasn't around when
Ian originally explained the situation (before my time on the NG,
apparently), is probably *still* in the dark. So you'll probably get
this question a few more times from the uninitiated.
Hope you're not too annoyed by all the questions.
Best wishes,

Last time I checked travel, on this planet, cost money -- are you
offering? Or you think he should walk/swim? Neither I nor Ian have
hundreds of pounds to get from England to the US, that is why they are
not together. I don't know why so many people are finding this so
difficult to understand.
> Maybe Ian is not happy about it. I give him permission not to be.
:-)
AFAIK Ian is fine with it, as am I. The only thing that bothers me
about this is that he is unable to be with his son.
Kalen
I don't know how saying what you mean can lead to grave
misunderstanding any more than expecting people to know things without
saying. My experience is quite dramatically the opposite. I am very
rarely wounded by someone saying what they mean. I am very much more
likely to be hurt by confusion and misunderstanding from people
expecting me to read minds. Especially on the internet where I mostly
communicate with strangers. I think this vague and indirect
questioning is just an annoying NT thing.

I don't know if she knew he was on a different continent, probably

So Kewl, Ian, because I do have a cartoon in my mind of the Momma cuddling
her young snorter, so sweet, so truly unscientifically reptilian. Alas, a
contradiction only available in the imagination.
He is swaddled in a softly pastel-plaid receiving blanket---and God help

The fire, in my scenario, is only the warmth of a Mom & Babe's love. The

Peace to you on this snowbound (here) Mid-Missouri day. I hope you don't
