My "survey" question for tonight is, if so, what are you doing while
you wait?
I am going to think about making plans for 2010. I tend to do so on
New Years Eve, but usually find I don't have enough time to think
about them properly so I thought I'd start early this year.

I occasionally clean parts of my house which haven't been touched for
years. Recently I washed my bathroom walls (which were very dusty and
which I don't remember cleaning since I moved in a long time ago).

I am not sure yet. I usually review what has happened over the last
year, how I have done against my plans made a year ago, and then set
myself various objectives.
Do you ever make plans for the year ahead?

Yep!

Sorry about the finger. Have you been dealing with Aardvarks?
I bet you're glad it's a survey not a quiz then?

not really
the past few years' constant goal has been trying to move beyond just
survival and existence
should probably make a goal about getting to work on time, but that
simply doesn't seem do-able, so such a goal wouldn't make sense

Nope. I just type those letters with my smashed pinky.

Eh. Six of one or a half dozen of the other.
I'm having a very trad-femme time of it today!

I took typing in grade 9 because I heard it was an easy course. That was

Several things.

Starting early sounds like a good idea.
I don't know what my plans for 2010 should be.
Sometimes i think I ought not to have lived to see 2009.
I don't know what to change, or what to change it TO,
but I do know that some things HAVE to change.

I find I mainly use my index fingers, but do use a few others as well.
Actually I have just noticed (from observing myself just now) that I
use a number of fingers on my left hand, but almost exclusively index
finger on my right hand. I wonder why this is? (I am right-handed).
It doesn't stop me reaching a speed of 90-100 words per minutes (and I
can also type with my eyes closed too - does that cound as touch
typing?).
I am very good at 'hitting the ground running' almost immediately. My
brain switches from off to full-power very quickly.
I wonder if this might be because I don't drink tea or coffee (and
also tend to avoid chocolate)?

You would think it would, but I'm not sure whether "touch typing" refers to
the fingering system or to not looking at the keyboard. I myself have to
look at the keyboard for numbers, punctuation other than
comma-period-semicolon, and the backspace and delete keys.
You must have a very good sense of proprioception to be able to type with
your eyes closed. Except....come to think of it, I can type with my eyes
closed too. You wouldn't be able to read the results, though!!!

Oh, buzzard, I'm glad I met you in 2009 and I'm glad you did live to see it.
Why are you so miserable? Are you in pain, or is it your living situation?

I find that my brain seems to be able to send communications straight
to my fingers. Sometimes when typing (like now) I don't consciously
think about how to type or spell a word. My brain just generates
something it wants to say and my fingers obey. I rarely look at the
keyboard. For example, in typing this I am looking at the screen all
the time rather than the keyboard.
I have typed for betwee 25-30 years (starting with typewriters before
computers) so I think it is something that has been learnt.
Nah. You're just wired that way. When I get up, parts of my brain remain
asleep. This is especially true if I wake up to an alarm clock. It can
take hours for the rest of my brain to wake up.
On occasion, when I have something important to do the following
morning, when I go to sleep, I can suggest to myself that I will awake
fully alert. I cannot sustain that day after day, though, and I have to
be reasonably rested to succeed.

Didn't see this till today but yeah that happens to me a lot ;-)

I'm just very bored, kinda unsettled right now, since I was supposed
to be going to my parents' place for Christmas, leaving on Tuesday...
yesterday the weather forecast for Tuesday was really bad so we
switched it to today, which was kinda stressful but ok, I got myself
ready in time. This morning, my parents phone saying there's a massive
blizzard over them and they can't get to the station (75 miles away)
to pick me up, been following the weather all day and it's never
really improved so, yeah... not sure when or even if I'm going now.
Very unsettling, and so I can't manage to settle to doing anything
much right now :-(
You're lucky being like that but it's not down to caffeine intake
since I never drink tea or coffee and rarely cola (and don't like
cholcolate that much) but I find it very hard to get going in the
mornings, I'm far more a nighttime person. I can force myself to get
moving in a shortish amount of time if i really have to, but usually
I'm very sluggish and it takes ages for my brain to want to function
properly.

my brain messes up communication to my fingers. i know keyboarding, but
frequently, the fingers go up instead of down, or the correct finger on
the wrong hand gets used. it's a problem with directionality, i think.
i also have trouble sometimes with correct formation of letters when
handwriting, and i still have to consciously determine left and right.
Looking at the pigsty my house has become, and thinking it's time I did
something about it. But I'll put it off another day.

If something's worth doing, why wait for New Year's Eve?

If you were not too inert to create a thread, what would you create a
thread about?
The answer to that is kind of complicated. I'm not in physical pain.
It's partly the situation I'm in now (work, living, society, etc.),
and partly my horrible history (school, etc.)
When it comes to relating to other people, and to being a part of
human society in any way, shape, or form, I face a host of
difficulties. And being isolated is like a jail sentence.
Putting all of this into words is not an easy thing.
At least, not if I want it to make any sense.
Back in school, I would see groups of people having loads of
fun together, talking, laughing, etc.
I walked alone.
If i said anything, someone would make a comment that amounted
to "What's that supposed to mean, idiot, ha ha" and they would
all point at me and laugh. If i said nothing, soon enough
someone would seek me out, yell "Hey Polock" or some such thing,
and they'd point at me and laugh. (i'm not polish, btw)
12 years of absolute hell in school.
I'm equally unequipped to deal with the abusive rat-race of
employment. Not that I don't have a job; I do work for a living.
But when the boss shows me some detail i missed (even one that's
so miniscule that it couldn't possibly matter), he does it with
such a sadistic, sarcastic, condescending attitude that it's like
the verbal equivalent of when the cat has peed on the rug and the
human grabs it by the neck, shoves the cat's nose into the rug it
peed on, and then kicks it across the floor.
Needless to say, my opportunities to learn any useful social
skills have been limited, and what skills I have absorbed are so
fucking sick I refuse to use them. (I don't want to be a sadist)
Here is an example of the kind of joke I'll tell:
"What do you call a sports car for poultry?"
"A chicken coupe"
Why are people offended by that?
The jokes my classmates told, and my coworkers still tell,
usually start something like:
"So this (insert random epithet here) walks into a bar, and..."
why are people NOT offended by that?
Personally, I kind of like that joke that Jim Lehrer told on PBS:
"3 guys walked into a bar. the 4th one ducked."
But of course, its not just jokes; when it comes to relating to
other people, its just about everything.
I'm sure this post sounds like the rantings of a madman,
and by now, perhaps I am one.
I'm probably drifting off-topic already. It's 2:33 am here.
Why am I still awake?
So back to topic, its not a physical pain, but the emotional
pain is close to nonstop, and often quite severe.
I know this pain is probably my own fault; others are able to
deal with life and society, why can't I?
So yeah, I know I need to change ...SOMETHING... about myself,
but I don't know which thing or things, or what to change them to.
