I am 76 now and should probably expect to have worse health problems. In the
'80s and early '90s I had asthma and its broncho spasms that left me
wondering if one day I would have the killer one. Miraculously I began using
Advair (first it was the two components, one after the other, then Advair
came along) and it seemed as if I had never had asthma and for years did not
have asthma. Early this spring I had some bad sinus infections and they were
treated with various antibiotics. Although I got my nasal passages clear I
had posnasal drip and constant coughing but that finally stopped and in the
last few weeks I had problems breathing and was in the e room on two
weekends. I was not admitted but got relief and felt fine afterwards. Then
last week I began the wheezing and coughing that made me realize that asthma
had returned. A friend had given me a nebulizer machine that I never thought
I would have to use but I got an Rx from the e room doctor for amules of
albuterol. Yesterday I hooked up the machine and began with the albuterol
vapor. I had used it in the e room but it didn not seem to loosen up the
secretions. I have been using it all day today and coughing getting some
results from it but I am writing this to mention a new concern I developed
when a woman I correspond with on line that is taking courses in veterinary
medicine mentioned that one of her dogs had developed cardiac asthma. I had
never heard of that but after looking it up on google I am getting quite
concerned. If you look it up you will find that it is not asthma per se but
a heart problem that causes fluid to enter the lungs. Tomorrow I am going to
try and get in to see my cardiologist and get his opinion. I have already
had three stents put in my right coronary artery back in 2000 and it gave me
a new lease on life after my heart began getting nourishment again. Sorry
this is such a long post but I want to know if any of you have had
experience with cardiac asthma and what they can do about it. Thanks for
your input.
