I see this NG has developed into the usual crank and spammer habitat.
Does anyone know of anywhere where issues related to lungs and the
malfunctions thereof can be discussed? It goes against the grain but
I'll even take a moderated forum.

Depending on whose statistics you use, some lung problems occur in 50%
of people during their lives (near 100% if you include colds and the
flu) so you would think that there would be lots of people discussing
their problems, exchanging ideas, asking questions etc. In running a
search on google the best I can see are establishment mantra
particularly from the UK. Not much help to me.

There must be something I'm missing. At this time of debate over
health care the most active discussions are in the frugal-living and
home-repair groups, not where I would have thought they'd be: on
sci-med. There you get the silliness of iron justice (I see you have
him here too), dung from a rogue religious fanatic doctor called
Chung, and back and forth disputes by assorted nut cases. Once in a
couple of months some new person wanders in and asks a reasonable
medical-related question or has a comment but it never lasts more than
a couple of posts. Seems it must be the same here.

no one is stopping you from contributing you know? If you sit there
and criticize everyone else, find something to say that is meaningful
instead? *I mean duh??????? hello , your options are to direct
intelligent thought, not sit there and down everyone because you don't
come across as being too intelligent yourself.
