I am down to 6 mg of Pred, dropping 1 mg every four days. Sure hope the
next couple of weeks will go alright. Yes, I am hurting more, but it's
bearable and gets better by the fourth day each time.

I have dental surgery on the 19th and the dermatologist took two biopsies on
my face (one of my nose, the other on one cheek). Sure hope I don't do like
my Mom did - just get the biopsy healed up and have the surgery to get the
rest of the area out! Would appreciate a few prayers for the rest of the
month. Thanks so much.

Thanks, Squirrely,
Well, I thought I was going down, but my pulmonary doctor increased it
today. I had gone down to 3 mg today, but with the dental surgery on the
19th, he wanted me to go back up 5 mg until two days after the surgery.
Then I am to go back to 3 mg and continue dropping it like I was. I was
wheezing a bit when he listened to my lungs. I knew about 30 minutes before
I should have taken my breather sooner than I did. I could tell I needed
it. I go back to see him in four weeks, so I should be off the Pred by
then, I hope, I hope. They are going to open my gum (they call it a "ridge
split") and spread it out a bit with a bone graft and then the next time,
put an implant in. The surgery is at 8AM EST on Tuesday the 19th and I
would appreciate prayers. Thanks.

Am completely off Pred and have been for 3-4 weeks. Slight side effect,
I think, from going off it. I've had swelling in both legs and feet, so
the GP put me on Lasix and a small amount of potassium twice a day. So
far, it seems to be working, but my feet still swell up when they are
down too long (like trying to catch up on newsgroup! LOL). I'm going
back to see him tomorrow on follow up on the bronchitis that put me in
Emergency this past Monday night. Thanks for the prayers. I could
still use a few.

they are still coming your way. Does the bronchitis seem to be doing better?
I hope your legs soon stop swelling.

Getting off the prednisone is never easy. Takes a while to feel like
its worth it, but it is.

Limited lung function could be aggravating the leg and foot swelling,
so maybe once all that clears up so will the feel.

Prayers of course.

The pottasium might help as well. The bronchitis is probably not helping
either as you probably aren't moving around enough. I will say that trying
to lie down and doing leg exercises to get the circulation going again will
probably help a little. I sometimes lie on my bed with my legs on the wall
above for several times a day when I am coming down on prednisone. Does
seem to help a little. Will keep the prayers going right now Navy.
Hopefully your mom is doing okay right now.

Believe me when I say that God knows who Navy is,,,,,, I wish I was off
pred. For some reason, I am having a hard time getting below 7.5mg/day.
I was down to 2.5mg/day when the bottom fell out with a flare. So it goes.

Thanks for the advice. I have some wedge pillows and sleep with a wedge
and one bed pillow under my feet. I also use a wedge pillow with a
pillow to keep my head up as I have reflux. I am feeling better.

I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow morning and will do a
follow up on legs, bronchitis, and a couple other pains.

Navy is an old lady who lives in South Carolina. LOL I had a hard
time, too. I finally had to go down 1mg every 4 days at least. I don't
know if I'm having a flare, but I don't want to go back on it, with all
those nasty side effects. Sorry you can't get lower.
