The technical (textbook) answer to your question is "no" , because
it's illegal. It's a controlled substance in the United States and
Canada, and probably in many other places as well. Simply possessing
the drug without a valid prescription in your own name is a crime -
usually a class A misdemeanor.
If you take this drug for five days, at the rate you speak of, you
will have probably only significant "dysphoria" upon stopping it.
It's a slippery slope - if you need some, go see a doctor -
seriously. In many states your mother could also be implicated for
supplying controlled substances to you, much like a drug dealer.
Now, does this happen all the time? Yes, of course it does - but I
thought you should know the whole story. Addiction is not really a
concern, unless you are addiction prone, or have a history of
addiction to alcohol or other drugs. It takes about 3 to 4 weeks to
develop a physical dependency on Xanax, with daily use.
If you need THAT much Xanax, as a person who has never used it before,
I think you should seriously consider consulting with a psychiatrist
about your anxiety.
