My wife Lorraine spent a few days in the hospital with
diverticulitis, and some infection. We took her to the emergency room.

One of her daughters has been doing the biggest share of looking
after her. The daughter does not have official nursing credentials but
makes money looking after older people, so she's good at it.

It's especially good since I'm getting used to new medicine dosages
for my GAD, and I'm tense and obsessive, my mind's elsewhere. Thank
goodness that's getting better day by day.

Lorraine's been home since Thursday. She doesn't have an anxiety
disorder. However, on Friday, the day after she got back, she started
having bad anxiety. We called her doc and she prescribed Xanax, 0.25 mg,
1-2 times per day, 3 times per day, as needed.

While we were arranging that, though, she started having a panic
attack. I reassured her we were getting something throught the doctor.
She was lying down, so I just lightly held both her hands, closed my eyes,
said nothing, and slowly started a relaxation routine with myself.

I breathed more and more slowly, until I couldn't hear my own
breathing any more. As I'd hoped, she followed my lead and calmed down.
She was still tense but the panic was gone.

I thought people here might find that interesting.

Sorry that Lorraine had diverticulitis. Its a bad thing. Very painful. Good
that you were able to calm both of you down.

Well done Dennis. Not only did you stay calm yourself but you helped your
wife through her panic attack.
This is a great sign considering you're going thru med changes right now.
