For those who can remember I went through a difficult time almost a year ago
at work. I had terrible issues with a colleague who was passive aggressive
towards me. Thanks to the great support in here (Sally being one of my
greatest supporters), I found a way to deal with the situation without it
affecting me. However, I still have felt quite flat and unmotivated but got
through each day.

I have now been offered a new job (same organisation) which is really
interesting, exciting and rewarding. No extra pay but money isn't the most
important thing in life. The best thing is I won't have to work with this
horrible person. I will be involved with community based projects, such as
helping young people obtain work experience, also people with disabilities
(mental and physical) and coordinating work experience for high school
students.

My anxiety was terrible last summer and I was fearing the warmer, sunnier
days but I have managed ok so far. This next week is going to be quite warm
and strangely enough I'm looking forward to it. Just hope I can keep up the
positive outlook. I'm still having problems picking up my daughter from
school... as I had one of my major panic attacks in that situation years ago
which set me back a great deal. I'm as close to normal as I ever get. Still
annoys me now and then that I know I will always have panic attacks but at
least right now they're manageable.

Vanessa, good news about the new job offer. If its less stress, even if its
less money, it will be better for your health. I learned long ago that money
is not the most important thing in life though you have to have enough to
pay your bills of course, but negative stress can make you physically and
mentally sick and dealing with someone at work you can't deal with, is bad.
I had to do it a few times in my career, and was on the verge of quitting as
I became physically ill over it. Better to quit than be ill. Your health is
number one. Without it, no amount of money will help.

Hi V~nessa! YAYYYYY! I'm very happy you got a new job you like!
Good luck and keep us posted, we'll be glad to support you here.

You can't be certain you'll always have panic attacks. As I'm sure
you are aware, that expectation can set you up for trouble. I'm not
nagging, just suggesting something to consider.

Congratulations with the new job which sounds like interesting and
necessary work. I hear you about PD as a chronic condition, we would be
better off without it but when it is properly managed we can lead rich,
fulfilling lives.

Good luck in your new position. I hope that it continues to be interesting,
exciting and rewarding for you. You are right, "money isn't the most
important thing in life."

That sounds like a great job V! Sounds very rewarding, like at times it
will leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling inside. :-) You are so right
about money not being everything, your happiness is far more important
than money.

I see your point Dennis. I should have a more positive outlook. I guess it's
my way of being pragmatic and accepting this disorder rather than being
angry about it. But I take your point. I do have long periods (even years)
without panic so it's possible I may never have them again.

Hi Tono,

I enjoy feeling warm and fuzzy inside. But I suspect I'll also feel a bit
tired as there's a lot to do but I the day passes quickly if you're really
enjoying the work. It's not often we get such a chance so I'm making the
most of it.

I'm doing fine thank you. Life lately hasn't had too many storms to weather.
My patience has been tested at times by the slow pace of life in a small
town but I will have to get used to that. Trying to get in contact with
contractors is a big problem. Most contractors are 1 or 2 person outfits and
they just don't have the time to get in contact with their customers or
wannabe customers....I'm not used to waiting in hope of seeing action in the
future<;-)

I'm glad to see that the new job suites you.

I can only imagine how frustrating it is to get contractors out. It's bad
enough in the suburbs where I have to wait days for a plumber or
electrician. Glad to hear you're doing well Ron.

I'm like everyone else here. It is very much "day to day." My impatience is
my biggest problem when it comes to dealing with businesses but I'm working
on it by telling myself that it really isn't that important and the problems
will eventually be fixed even if not on my schedule.

No need to apologise. I'm really enjoying the new job and the atmosphere is
great. The people are lovely and fingers crossed I get to stay long term. My

That's great Vanessa. I know exactly what you mean about feeling better when
out of stressful work situations (or any situations for that matter). I am
sure your anxiety is much less and know you will feel much better to be out
of bad vibes. Too much negative stress is damaging to your health. I know
because I was in a few bad work situations during my work career and its not
worth your health. I hope you get to stay long term.

Thanks Mary, You're so sweet.

Even if I don't get to stay I know I will feel invigorated and manage
whatever situation. My old section is going through changes so I won't be
going back to the same exact job anyway.
