I decided to get a hobby to keep myself active. A few months ago I
bought a welder and last week I got a bench top lathe and in a few
months the bench top mill that I ordered will be here. I got the bench
top models so I could use them from my wheelchair.

For my first project, I'm going to convert the machines to cnc (computer
controlled) and then maybe I'll make a RC car.

Do you hate me yet? :)

You're going to hate me for this one :) but I got back in to a hobby
that I had as a kid. Astronomy. My wife bought me a telscope for
Christmas two years ago and although it's not the $35,000 scope we'd
all like to have in our backyard, it's been a lot of fun.

It's one thing to see pretty pictures from the Hubble but when you see
the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter, or nubulae with your own
eyes, there is something magical about it. It's fun to hold viewings
for schools, Girl Scouts, etc. as well. The sun is very exciting as
well so you don't have to limit yourself to nighttime viewing. You can
often view the moon during the day as well.

Hey Glenn,

I almost burned out an eye the first time I looked at a Full Moon
through a telescope. That was a shock. My eyes we're already accustomed
to the darkness and then when I looked through the lens, OUCH!

Most of my night viewing is from the confines of my hot tub and up in
the mountains during the long nights of winter.

That sounds pretty kool...... I've always liked the science tv when they
show the different stars and such...

Now Mr. Bill has a good idea with hot tub but, I think I'd hook up a
video cam to the scope and sit a monitor next the tub to keep from
having to look thru the scope...... I'm lazy, but then again that's what
the hot tub is for. :)

My scope has an aperture reducer which basically closes off most of
the front end thereby darkening the image considerably. Filters work
as well.

If you have your computer connected to your controller you can do just
that, especially with a wireless connection. MY computer runs mine but
I'm wired to it with a serial cable.

Sorry JackK, not on the pipe, just trying to stoop down to the level of the

Scott out there with his fishing pole, looking for some kind of damn troll.
Man I should of been some kind of con man, I'm good at it. oh hell there I
go again. Do I need to post a picture of myself giving you the finger ? Or
do you generally get the idea?
Warmest Regards, to you folks in West Virginia

I had some trouble with mine when I first got it. I had trouble telling
the dude where he needed to change it. The thing felt strange... it felt
to tight on the left side when it was really to tight on the right. I
quess it was a nerve deal. I can press on the left side of my numb and
fells like my little toe..... kinda' strange.

anyway good luck with it

You think they will hate you? I'm working on picking back up my hobby I
was into before this all happened. I somehow got pulled into a home
brew club and have been making my own beer. I call it cooking for men.
Well, it's almost that much work, unlike doing chores and hauling
groceries I find no problem getting help to help me brew up a new batch
come brew day :) Yes, it's a tough hobby, but someone has to do it.

P.S. Drink responsibly. Drinking is not a sin, over indulging is.
Don't drink and drive.
