Some students in the area were making pillows (not for sleeping) for
Alzheimer's patients but I didn't have the opportunity to buy or make
one before Mom passed.

I think the idea is excellent as the patients fidget a lot with their
hands.

The pillows had zippered pockets, buttons that you could fasten, snaps,
little pockets, etc. They would be very easy to make.

Just thought I would pass along for those that might be interested.

What a wonder you are Lynn. I don't have access to a pillow such
as you describe, but DW has a purse with pockets and zippers and
it holds a prolific billfold that also has a multitude of pockets and
zippers. While it currently contains her ID and personal materials,
I can adapt it perform the fidget control function. (She's not going
to need it for it's original function) Thanks.

You are welcome!

Mom liked to "fidget" with her purse also. I took out everything of
importance because, as you so well mentioned, she was not going to use
it.

I left an empty zippered coin purse, kleenex, envelope, etc. She would
take the things out and rearrange them for a long period of time.

Hope this is a help to you for your DW.

Here are some commercially available products along the same idea -
"busy" pillows or aprons for those who like to fidget and fiddle!

My mother in law totally destroyed the arms of her wheelchair more
than once, and we won't talk about what she did to clothing. If there
was a loose thread she'd be at it until everything was in shreds.
