Obvious he has to do the reboot universe version of "The Next
Generation".

few things that dont quite jive makes it more real (and provides more
fodder for newsgroups). To go off canon and make quality is more
acceptable than to "reboot" and make a mess. Changing how Klingons
look is the classic reboot issue that on the surface seemd wrong but
turned out to be great because a) the discussion on why they were
different with several explanations was wonderfully creative and B)
aliens should look well alien instead of like humans with extra
eyeliner.
