Official ASVS Token Trekkie
WTF Strowbridge is banned?
Wow. And I thought they only banned truly deranged motherfuckers like
me.
He actually left just before they were going to ban him. Graeme Dickhead
was just banned. That place is too controlled for me. I really don't
like it. You post something they don't like, and instead of someone
reinforcing their argument they fall back on procedure. "How does this
relate to (whatever it is)? Unrelated rants will be split or locked."
Basically, they threaten to lock or delete anything they don't want to
deal with. You know, all the stuff the rabid Warsies wanted to do here,
but was impossible to do in a Usenet group. It's really frustrating.
And this Stark guy is one piece of shit motherfucker. If that place
didn't raise my blood pressure so much, he would be my new hobby now
that Graeme is banned. I posted a thread along the same lines as we used
to post here about Daleks vs. The Empire. It was a very basic post to
start. I was hoping it would work like it did here, start out with a
basic post and everyone chimes in, and it gets more and more detailed as
the thread goes on. This "Stark" asshole nitpicked the fact that I
didn't give him all the information he wanted. He's apparently too
stupid to extrapolate, even when I gave specifics. He made such a stink
about it, that he got this "Ghost Rider" cocksucker to lock the thread.
Then in another thread "Stark" accused me of "running away". It's a bit
hard to reply to a locked thread! I went to bed after I replied to him,
and when I woke up it was locked. Considering the amount of posts he's
logged, he's obviously some unemployed wanker living in his mum's
basement.
I'm tired of posting there. It was really nice to see Marina, Colin,
Dalton and ther others, but that place sucks. If they want to come here,
that would be awesome. I've definently come to the conclusion that SDN
is one big Warsie bread party. (Those of you reading this who aren't
familiar with the term, look here:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Bread+Party) Alright, I'm
done with my rant.
I banned myself...had a couple of emails with Rob Dalton...
while Ding Dong Wong and I agree on Classic versus Berman era
I didn't want to put up with him as moderator or be ranked down there
with the newbies...apperently Dalton couldn't pull strings to get me
some kind of senior status.
Then there is the constant grief I get over Okuda and Sternbach fans...
you know..stuff like...Miranda class vs. Avenger class heavy frigate
despite Sternbach working with Geoffery Mandel on the less known "Star
Trek Maps" and the booklet included....Sternbach lost me as a fan with
his TNG tech manual.....aside from going backwards like central gravity
generators rather than the long established deck plates.....which
Berman & Braga re-established in "Through a Mirror Darkly"....there was
the stupidity of putting a giant rubber duck, an Abrams or M51 Tank and
other stipid things in the cross-section of the E-D. Among other
things.
Therefore I have dissagreements with other Trek fans let alone all that
other crap and [when I could afford it] it takes all the fun out of
going to conventions. So I'd rather just stay home{unless I can find a
real western-style gunbelt and the right prop to fit....you need a FAC
to get a firearm in Canada but not the belt} then I may someday go as a
Browncoat. Imagine a 53+ year old fart playing dress-up!

Origin: "Battle Beyond The Stars"[1980,George Peppard, actor.Roger

"Classic" Trekker and now a Browncoat!
At the risk of sounding like a douche...it's called an in-joke.
Lighten up.
Pretty much agree with you on everything else though.

Yes, I know C.R. it was fine on the set where in the '80s low-rez TV
couldn't make it out but did he have to put it in the manual?
Plus yes....it was no secrect that a bunch there were all Hitchhiker's

I haven't been there for a while. I'll head back over for a bit.
Christ, is this place still alive? BTW, I asked to be banned in
November, but wasn't. I was finally permabanned and IP blocked after I
returned last week to dispute an outright untruth Mr. Wong posted. Ah
well.
BTW, this is "Lord Poe" I have no idea how, but some idiot is now
using my old email address: 1o...@h4h.com that I haven't had for at
least 6 years. And uh, "Lord Poe" is officially deceased. It's now
MrPoe. And I have absolutely zero use for the VS debates anymore, or
really anything Star Wars related.

Say it ain't so? Wong is beyond reproach, I swear!

Didn't like the new stuff, eh?
Good to see you, Mr. Poe. I was hoping you would show up. Even if you
have no interest in the debate anymore, please stick around. There's
LOTS of other crap to talk about here. Especially with all the history
many of us have here. As for SDN, the place sucks. I tried to go back
there as a favor to a friend, but the place just pisses me off. It's
designed to reinforce the views of Wong and his band of fluffers. It's
far too controlled. Most of those who think they're hot stuff there,
(like that "Stark" hatfucker) wouldn't last long in a debate here.
Precicely because they can't hide behind mods, threaten to get people
banned, and lock threads when things don't go their way. Good for you
for leaving SDN. We'd realyl like to have you back here.

Hey, you guys want to see some real douches? Read this thread.
Especially the last couple of pages. Watch the nasty turn it takes.
http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=131102
This is the kind of bullying we have been talking about. I think I'll
just hang out here. I suggested these pus infested cum bubbles join us
over here. I doubt they have the stones, though.
Sorry to hear about that, Wayne. I hope things get better for you.

You'll have to quote. I no longer read SDN! ;)
Not a problem. I left there for the summer even before that. There's
really nothing of interest there at all, anymore.

Ok. Well, it's an 11 page thread, so I'll quote and give narration on
what transpired. It's really long, so make some popcorn! :) It started
with Lord Ass Pounder posting this question:
"Something has been bothering me as of late, which is one of the reasons
I've been keeping a lower profile recently. I was following the recent
thread regarding Dice and I came across a few nuggets.
From Here
Quote:
I'm only proposing a moderate course of action with Graeme because I'm
reluctant to see another ASVS vet go
And Here
Quote:
You know what, Graeme? We're both ASVS-era people, and so's Shep, and
seriously, lay off him
My question is why do ASVS veterans seem to get a free pass? Is this an
official board policy or do you need the special hand shake? What's up
with that?"
____
So a discussion ensued about what made ASVS great, and why we were such
a clique. The discussion then moved on to why so many ASVSers were
banned, and the shortcomings of SDN. Namely the over moderation and the
Communist China feel to the place.
Atomik Chicken and Marina got into a spat, and around page 9 the whole
thing took an ugly turn with this exchange.
Atomik Chicken: "That's all? You guys are getting soft. It seemed like
you were using the board rules to get rid of someone who you didn't
like. Your choice I guess..."
Me: "Wasn't that the reason for starting SDN?"
Ray245: "There's no real life/political discussion at ASVS?"
Me: "Oh, there was. There was discussions about everything. And the best
part about it what, you stood on the force of your arguments. There were
no mods to hide behind, no way to ban people (other than just killfiling
then), and no way to lock threads. You made your arguments, and you
either prevailed or were mocked."
After that, Dalton got slightly defensive, but not too much.
Then Wong started trying to draw an equivelence between individual
plonking and banning. Ridiculous hair splitting.
Then when Simplicius (who I didn't relize was a mod, but it wouldn't
have mattered anyway) wiped his ass all over the thread with this gem:
"This is amusing - two old, long-quiet members pop up during a nostalgia
thread and spend their time very smoothly asserting that SDN forum
moderators exist to shield bad debators and that bans on SDN are handed
out at the personal whim of those with the power to do so rather than in
response to violations of board policy.
Well, I'm not having any of it. I don't care if you are ASVS and I don't
care if you are '03 and '04 SDNers. With Administrative Rules #2 and #3
and Posting Rule #8 in mind, you may place your opinions on board policy
in the subforum dedicated to that purpose, and keep them out of Off-
Topic.
If you would rather state your views on BBS moderation in the more
general case, then state them openly and be prepared to substantiate
them. Atomik Chicken, you in particular are obliquely framing a general
stance on web-board moderating and free expression. If you want a
debate, you'll find plenty of people here who are willing to oblige -
but derailing this thread is not the place for it."
____
After that I simply stated: "Good for you. So, what are you doing in
this thread again?"
Then this dicksmack named "fgalkin" said:
"He's a mod of this forum. It's his job to read your posts and wipe your
nose when yoiu finish crying."
I then replied, in typical ASVS fashion:
"You can wipe my ass if you like."
After that the true colors of SDN were revealed. Alyeska said:
"Deliberately pissing off the moderators. Very smart."
I replied: "It's called a joke. And that's exactly what we're talking
about."
Then the goat raping child molester known as "Ghost Rider" (Or "Goat
Rider", as I call him) spat out: "That's nice. Don't do it again. It's
considered spam at best."
Then Enigma warned that I had to be careful what I said around them
because this isn't ASVS.
At that point, I relized the direction this was going. I was being
baited to say something for which they could ban me. So, I said I was
going back to ASVS in the nicest possible way.
Me: "Apparently. OK. That's fine. Yeah, that's pretty much what were
were talking about. I'm going to head back to ASVS and the satellite
boards for a while. You guys have fun. I may poke my head back in from
time to time. Oh, and if Ghost Rider, Stark, or any of you others want
to meet us in ASVS, I'd certainly enjoy it."
_________
Then this "Stark" hatfucker chimed in with this gem:
"What's the point? You can't operate under rules, so we could all go
over there and get instantly killfiled. If you had a point or a brain
you'd be using it now, instead of praying for the homeground advantage
and the hopeless forum of newsgroups.
Or maybe you didn't think we'd notice."
__
Obviously this pus infested cum bubble doesn't have the stones to come
in here where he can't hid behind procedure. The last thing I'd do is
killfile him or anyone else. In fact, I've never KFed ANYONE. Even
TOWNMNBS. I prefer to flame them to a crisp instead. >:D
Then it was Edi's turn to chime in. This window licker shit this piece
of wisdom out of his ass/mouth:
"The only proper place for this trainwreck of a thread is in the HoS,
courtesy of Tyralak acting like a stupid asshat. As I said, those of us
who never were on ASVS have no obligation whatsoever to put up with
bullshit from people who posted there 7 years ago or more. And since
just saying it didn't appear to sink in, maybe the HoSing will get the
point across."
A few other things were said, but I haven't posted there again, and
probably won't.

Indeed it is. :D Delicious, delicious irony.
Except that when you consider the math it comes out to about 7.331
posts a day.
"Obviously this pus infested cum bubble doesn't have the stones to

and this may sound odd, I know the look on your face, that quasi
triumphant oblivious sneer, that smile of a person who has yet to
realize what a gigantic dildo they are. Your "problem" with SDN is
that you can't handle the fact that acting like a douche gets you
banned, so you come here to bitch about it all and make sniping
comments, not realizing that few people from SDN are even reading this
inane drivel, and many of them are reading it for the sheer lulz that
can be had from it, others from curiosity, much like myself, from not
being a part of the earlier board culture.
tl;dr Tyralak is a dildo
Ah, and who are you? You see, SDN doesn't much interest me, and I
couldn't care less who from SDN reads this. But I AM interested in which
one of those SDN hatfuckers YOU are.

I'm not sure this clown knows the difference. He's probably one of those
kiddies who grew up on web based boards, and never had any experience
with Usenet. I do hope this guy sticks around a bit. I want to have some
fun with him. >:) Of course, it's starting to look like he's just a

Yup...the Path header says it all...
Yeah, from four-c h a n (spelled that way so in order to not attract
unwanted attention), an image board where a lot of trolls tend to
congregate. The board itself is unfairly maligned all the time (hell I
go there all the time myself, as do large portions of SDN and SB.com)
but that's not to say a lot of trolls go there, like any very large
community.
His e-mail address aflippi...@hotmail.com seems to confirm that.
Oh you hear that spammers? His e-mail address is
aflippi...@hotmail.com you might want to take note of that.

That's for sure. It's kind of cumbersome for a newsreader anyway. I
prefer Xnews. It hasn't been updated in years, because it's one of those
rare programs that's perfect just the way it is.
That's probably where he came from in the first place.
Nah. If he was, he's the lamest possible member. He made a drive by
post, which wasn't even good, then ran away.

I was banned? When did this happen? And why wasn't I informed.
Is there a list of banned people there?
Thanks,
C.S.Strowbridge
On a side note, I found a post of mine from 2006 talking about leaving
SDN because of the Moderators.
If you disagreed with Mike Wong on anything, you were attacked. And if
you fought back, you were punished. I see things have not changed.
C.S.Strowbridge
No, I shouldn't have lumped you in with those who were banned. I know
you left of your own accord. I was just listing al the ASVSers who don't
go there anymore. I know Wayne, Graeme, Kaz and several others are
banned. Enigma I think has a list. I don't go over to SDN anymore. The
place raises my blood pressure and pisses me off.
No, it hasn't. If anything it's gotten worse. Did you read the summary
of the exchange I had with Goat Rider and the others in the "ASVS
Alumni" thread? I made a couple of mild quips and was accused of
"spamming" and told that I "shouldn't piss off the moderators." That's
why this place will always be a superior discussion medium. Nobody can
ban anyone else. You either stood on your aruments or were mocked by
your peers. SDN is a cesspool.
Hey stranger LTNS! Welcome back to the insanity, anyone up for a good
argument?

Damn. I was kind of hoping I was banned after I left. That would have
been funny.
I think any forum with moderation needs to rotate the mods, lest they
become corrupted by the power.

It would have been funny, and I wouldn't have put it past Wong or his
group of fluffers to do that kind of thing. They do have you listed as
"Sore Loser" though. Typical.I agree with you wholeheartedly about
rotating mods. All you have to do is look at that thread I posted (or
the summary thereof) for an excellent example of the heavy-handedness of
the mods. All I did was make a minor quip. In fact a really lame one by
ASVS standards, and I was threatened with having my posts deleted by
some goat raper named "Ghost Rider" or "Goat Rider" as I call him.I was
told by a couple of people "don't piss off the mods. Bad idea." Why not?
Why aren't they subject to critisism or ribbing? The place is a joke and
I hope it dies.
Really? How'd you manage that?

That's funny. One of the last things I did before I left was challenge
Mike Wong to a debate. He either declined or never responded. I don't
recall which.

Reviewing Star Trek on Blu-ray will rock.
Reviewing some direct-to-DVD crap with Steven Segal sucks.

Wow. That's a pretty cool job. How did you get into that? I'm kind of on

Myself I have a weakness for B-grade direct to video Sci-Fi movies, you
know the kind that frequently show up on the Sci-Fi channel. :D

Kind of stumbled into it. Saw a site asking for people to writer movie
related stories. No experience necessary. No pay either. Kind of built
from there.
I do get paid now, but the free DVDs are a huge draw.

How often do you get asked to install 'free channels'?

Not near as often as I used to, but more often than I'd like. A couple
times a month lately. I've been in the business for 6 years, and I used
to get people asking me all the time when I first started, but very few
anymore. People don't seem to realize that I have zero control over what
programming they're able to receive. The systems are centrally
authorized by the call centers and sent over the satellite to the
receiver. Some customers have a hard time grasping that. They think I
can just type in a code and give them channels.
The problem with SDN doing that is the fact that Wong has been very
busy for the past year and practically everyone else in the admin
\super mod level are very busy with real life issues. It takes forever
for changes and recommendations to be made. Hell, I think it took a
year for the popular request for strikethrough to be added to the
board.
As for Wong, I agree with you but then again I just tip toe around him
whenever he replies or posts something. Once he has his mind made up,
it is almost impossible for him to change his mind, especially when he
makes assumptions that about a poster that is blatantly false. I avoid
him if a topic is a mine field. But I don't avoid him as much as I
avoid Stark.
I am sure if you return, many of the old timers might grumble but
believe me you are not the least popular person on the board. :)
Stark should bring his goat molesting ass in here so we can have some
fun with him. But of course, he wouldn't stray from the safety of SDN.
He's a chickenshit.

Take pictures and sell them on the internet. If I saw him being
sodomized with a lampost by the same gang of thugs, I'd give them a
medal. Stark is a pus infested cum bubble and a coward.
Don't hold back Tyralak, tell us how you really feel :-D
Hmmm, what kind of real-life issues for Wong and the others?
The usual, work, family, and so forth. I think Dalton some time ago
got married so that and work eats up a lot of time.
I know Dalton got married. Dalton is a really nice guy. I always got
along with him. Wong is just an ass, all around. He was getting his ass
kicked in ASVS so he started SDN. Simple as that. I wish the old gang
would come back here though. Wong, I think protests too much. He writes
about how great his life and marriage is, and that if you have problems
it's just because you're stupid and aren't doing it right. I think he
has way more issues than he lets on and is trying to overcompensate with
his online persona.
