story = V13 Memories of Cookies by Rocky
comment = Another wonderful story about Neelix. He gets overlooked in fanfic
I think, because TPTB made him into an almost-buffoon on the show. Rocky
shows us a portrait of a sad man. He decides to celebrate the day Kes left
Voyager in his own way. Touching as he remembers the better times, and also
the sad ones. I liked the phrase "memories become more than shadows of
reality." Left me with a lump in my throat.

story = V2 Among Bluebonnets by Seema
comment = I especially liked the interaction between Chakotay and Torres in
this story, and how despite his anger at Riley, both Torres and Janeway were
still more pessimistic than he was about the future of Riley's collective.
The moment where you could tell that Janeway took Riley's decision to stay
in the DQ a little too personally was a nice little detail, and I liked the
quiet scene at the end, too.

story = V3 Blue Skies by Rocky
comment = This would also have made a good episode - the action, pacing and
final scene were very Trek-like - though I thought Chakotay wasn't
sufficiently tempted by Eve.

story = V7 For The Record by Rose Kira
comment = Chakotay tells it like it really was. This would have made a good
Dead Letter - it has that beyond-bitterness tone to it. Short and far from
sweet.

story = V8 Haere Mai by Amiroq. aka Gypzy
comment = Another victory of style over plot - the story *is* the rhythm of
the unknown language in Tom's dreams. It carries you along like the dreams
themselves.

comment = Rocky makes Neelix, and especially Kes, appropriately alien.

comment = This was an interesting B'Elanna character piece, notable in its
creative uses of "bite me."

story = V22 Trust by Dave Rogers
comment = This is an out-of-nowhere story about B'Elanna's application to
the Academy and how she met Max Burke. Both of them were in excellent
character and the plot was creative. A little jewel of the year.

story = V23 Waiting by Annie M
comment = Far and away the best moments of a bad episode are the ones we
never saw but that fill up this short character piece. B'Elanna's reactions
and worries were handled well and without undue angst.
