In an effor to generate more stories to hopefully save the 2009 Awards, I
hearby offer these challenges and challenge anyone else to come up with
challenges, too!

Challenge #1
For: Writers of TNG-era fanfic.
Take what happened in Star Trek (2009) and write a short story featuring
TNG, DS9, or Voyager in that alternate timeline.

Challenge #2
For: Enterprise writers
Since ENT happened before TOS, it can't be part of that new Trek movie
timeline. So how about you set the pro books aside and come up with your
take on how to fix the finale. Trip may live or he may die. Fix it the
fiasco they filmed.

Challenge #3
For: TOS writers
Merge the Chekov known from TOS with the Chekov character in the new movie.
Not his experience because that couldn't merge, but his character,
intelligence, youth, etc. Give us a short character piece.
Alternately: Do this for any TOS character shown also in the new movie.

Oops, forgot AOS. Hmmm...well, since liked Chekov, let's stick with him.
Give us a short story from his life before stepping foot on the Enterprise.
Alternate: I liked McCoy in the new movie too. So how about a short story
between him and his now ex-wife. Maybe a scene from the divorce?

Rocky gave forth the following Challenge:

How about a challenge dealing with hair? We have bald captains, captains
with buns, captains with facial hair, beehives... How does hair affect your
ability to command? To be an engineer, a yeoman, or a pilot or a redshirt?
What happens when aliens attack on a bad hair day?

I rather like the Chekov character and absolutely loved the new movie.
Hmmm...let me see.

Hrm, I've only ever had one remotely AOS-related story idea and it had
nothing to do with this concept (and I haven't written it in part
because I'm not sure how to code it). And as fate would have it, I
don't like Chekov in either universe.

Any other TOS challenge ideas?
Gamin (who does plan to post another very long fic here soon, but I
WILL be needing feedback for it)

There's a Number One Gen Fest currently going on at

You know, I've never been to a live journal. I don't really like
Pike or Number One, but I've always liked the fan-generated idea that
she might somehow be Christine Chapel's older sister. Have to think
about that one, and the fact that I've never been to a LJ or at least
never posted anything there. How long is it likely to last?

It's going on until the 15th, to coincide with the Halfamoon Female
Characters Fest. However, the stories are being added to the
Masterlist as they're written. And some of them will be archived by
the individual authors on archiveofourown.com and fanfiction.net I'm
sure.

There's also going to be a Pike/Number One Ficathon at some point,
probably after 'Ship Wars finishes up.

Okay. Of course, I thought the original purpose of mentioning
challenges was to get people to post responses *here*...or did I
misinterpret it? (Hmm, I sure am not going to make that deadline of
the 15th.)

Kirk discovers that he is really Anakin Skywalker's other son. ;-)

I'm saying there's existing challenges out there that people can
crosspost fiction to ASC as well as the comms.

Almost all of the fiction I've written in the last few months and
posted here to ASC have been in answer to challenges and ficathons
from Livejournal communities.
