TSU Policies and Guidelines
Hi all!
Now that I've found this crew of insufficiently reluctant people to do the
TSU web page, I thought I'd give some quick and dirty (heh heh) guidelines
to TSU policy. Not that we have much of a policy, but still . . .
What TSU Is:
TSU is a virtual community (initialized by Jen Chapman, bless her heart)
wherein the denizens of ASCEM(L) can hang out and get to know one another's
screen personae (some better than others . . . ahem . . .Cam and Sophie for
example). TSU is not a clique or a country club. Instead it is an organic
community that only works because so many people have added their own
unique ideas to the mix.
How to get involved in TSU:
Write a TSU post. It's really that simple. Don't know what to write
about? Any aspect of TrekSmut that you think needs to be studied is a
potential TSU department. You want to set up a Department of Non-Recurring
characters with yourself as Department Chair? Feel free. You want to be
the head of the groundskeepers and devote your time to writing up
descriptions of rude topiary? Fell free? You want to write about your
parents visiting TSU? You want to write about a day in the life of an
average student (undergrad/grad) or professor? Be our guest. You want to
offer to help with the TSU webpage? Write to Robin Lawrie
<rob...@s054.aone.net.au>. You can also write to Robin to get a copy of
the TSU file in order to find out what's happened so far.
We do already have some posts filled by people who nominated themselves for
various positions (or who have been nominated by others). So before you
decide that you're the college president, read the old posts. Other than
that, go wild.
The Spirit of TSU:
TSU is *your* community. However, there are a couple of things that I'd
like people to keep in mind. If you pick on someone in a TSU post, do so
in a nice, joking way, not a hurtful, flaming one. If we get a post that
strikes the majority of the website committee as problematical, we will
throw it open to a vote from the newsgroup. I'd like to avoid the politics
that plague "real" academic settings. I'd like everyone to feel
comfortable and at home here. And I'd like to see everyone having fun.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to post the lis of departments and divisions we
already have at good old TSU. Just so people will no what is lacking.
