After dispatching the USS Andromeda to investigate the Ferengi
distress call, Commodore Skree sat back in the pilot seat to reminisce
his time aboard that ship. The best of times, certainly, if also the
worst of times.

Such as the supposed milk run to deliver supplies to a research
outpost within the Coalsack Nebula. Easy mission, but things had soon
gone awry with the Andromeda hijacked and used in an attempt to steal
an experimental piece of technology and using it to replace the
CINCSILVER. Skree's crew had been put in old Klingon ships set to
self-destruct.

The supposed milk run had ended up with Alexandra Kirk, his XO, flying
a Klingon Bird-of-Prey through the saucer of the Andromeda. They had
got her out barely in time, it had taken long before she was back on
her feet. Briefly she was on two sets of feet, but that was another
story. Hopefully Captain Blackmane would face less bumps on this
journey.

The communication suite informed of incoming flash message. Starbase
Saikai informed him and Rexan of the explosion and the injury of
Commodore Melinda G'hanges, and warned of increased danger on the way.

It was no idle warning. Soon after the communication, the computer
beeped a proximity warning.

The Raven class scout was a Romulan design, and its sensor suite was
especially sensitive to detecting subspace variations that signified
the presence of cloaked ships. Therefore, when the Seeker class ship
dropped its cloak and attempted to lock on tractor beam, the Quoth had
her shields up and turned in a sharp evasive maneuver.

Akhorahil clambered to the co-pilot seat with impressive ease,
considering her size. She was accompanied by a stream of curses from
the Admiral, who had spilled the half glass of Romulan ale on herself.

"Hold on!" Skree shouted and took the ship to a dive. A disruptor
salvo grazed the shuttle's dorsal shields.

"What's going on?" Rexan asked, wrestling her seat belts on, together
with the other passengers.

"Klingons."

"Confederate ha'di'bach," Akhorahil spat.

"God," the Admiral sighed, looking out the viewport at the aggressor,
that outsized and outgunned their small craft. "How long can this
bucket of bolts last against that?"

"You'll be surprised. When they removed the cloaking device, I used
the space and extra power to install some improvements. Full power to
forward shield!" said Skree and turned the prow against the Klingon
ship. "What do we know of that class?"

"Seeker class. No known weak spots."

"Then scan for some. Lock on their port weapons!"

The Quoth charged against the attacker, weaving and dodging incoming
fire, most of it. Skree fired phasers to weaken the Klingons' shields
and followed it by a series of microtorpedoes, some of which found
their mark in the port wing.

The Klingon ship's close defence turrets fired back, reminding Skree
to keep his distance. He did so with a spiraling dive, and saw that
the Seeker turned to follow him. The ship was nimble and picked up
speed quickly.

This was going to get interesting.

NRPG: Yeah, In included the reminiscing bit just so that I can send
this to the Andromeda board too. :)
