I don't know what this means Marsh.

Whether Luongo is a good player and can find a home, is completely
immaterial as to the quality of what he might return. There's a limited
number of owners willing or able to take on his life-time, kabillion dollar
contract, and all GMs know Gillis is in a pickle. If his contract was 3
years at 5.3 mill across the board, you don't think there'd be a lot more
teams in the running and the price Gillis was asking would go up ?
From Chicago's perspective it was a salary, long contract, dump to lower
their cap hit. From Florida's, they needed a big cap hit to get above the
floor. Campbell is a hell of a D, and Chicago took back, who ? Oh ya, that
Olesz chap, who got into a half-dozen games with Chicago before being
sent to the AHL, and Chicago is paying him 3 mill per to stay there and be
removed from their cap hit.

I've said from the outset Toronto would be good fit for him, and Burke
will go after him. I think it's a slam dunk they would have made the playoffs
if they had him this year. But Burke ain't no fool, and he won't be giving
back any of his promising good young guys imo. I guess with Burke, it
depends upon how tenuous his position is if they don't make the playoffs
next season. Methinks they might pull the plug.
*POP QUIZ*
Toronto is comparable to the Rangers revenue-wise. Guess how much
moolah New York rakes in for each home game in the playoffs ?
Times up........ 5.6 mill per !

It's not a myth at all. I don't understand why you think a 12 year 60
mill or whatever it was NMC contract isn't a problem. I'd bet the days
of the long term front-end loaded big contracts are over. They were
simply stupid. There's no way the Canucks would ' absorb ' Luongo's
contract given Schneid is in for a ig raise. Aside from the fact Schneid
would be gone like CoHo at his first opportunity, there' no way even
Gillis would tie up 9 mill or so at the goalie position.

Of course it means nothing [ to the Canucks ] cause he'll be gone before
year one of those 6.
