I'm a supporter. I think he's a really good coach... but why oh why does he
have to say this shit:
http://tinyurl.com/c26cy8d

Then he seems to throw everyone including the medical staff and Gillis under
the bus here:
http://tinyurl.com/bnj442n

Like the CoHo comment after his first training camp, what good can come of
it?

Would it be unprecedented to fire a coach mere days after signing him to an
extension? Jesus.

Really? What did he say that was so bad?

He didn't throw anyone under a bus. He spoke his mind and told it like
he'd been told it.

Did you even think to check whether or not Gillis has said that Daniel
would be ready for game 1?

Look up "tempest in a tea cup".

His remarks are puzzling. How could a torn tendon in a shoulder NOT
affect performance? It begs the question, if not that then what, not
using his wingers optimally? It just seems unproductive, and an example
of V's shooting from the lip without really thinking his words through,
something I also like about him.

Agreed. I prefer someone who speaks honestly, myself.

Kesler seems to have trouble with his labrums:

"It's believed diagnostics showed the labrum in Kesler's
shoulder was completely torn."

"Kesler...had labrum surgery on his hip last summer but only
missed the first five games."

labrum: a ring of cartilage surrounding the rim of the the
socket in a ball and socket joint.

In any event, an odd statement for V to make. If it wasn't
the torn labrum that was causing Kesler's problems, then
what does he think it might have been?

It's strange that V would be musing about possibly having a
more defense-oriented team when Gillis unequivocally came
out in favour of an offensive-style team in his remarks.

Maybe that's what V is counting on. ; )

Actually, this will give reporters something to talk about
over the next few days. But, in the long run, I don't think
it will amount to much.

And so does the public when he throws them under the bus. Apparently
what goes on in the room, stays in the room, only applies to the players.
Gillis and V have exempted themselves. V with Kesler and Willie, and
Gillis [ i don't talk about this in public--but I will ] with CoHo.

It's reported today that Vs extension was for 3 or 4 years.

I need more head to survive.

I think we can all agree.

They'd be eating 2 years dean. But I don't care how much the Aquiliniiiisis
eat, it's not my money. If it was, the prick could have rotted in Quebec

Yup. It would not surprise me to learn that Kesler has no particular
problem with what Vigneault said.

I'm nuts for the game and despite being short one ACL my left knee still
works OK. I'm trying to get back to where I was a couple years ago:
breaking 80 pretty regularly, personal best of 74, but working with a
pro has actually made me worse...

No kidding. The guy's a friggin' schlub. The other gms, and the
knowledgeable newsgroupers like us, knew Gillis was in a pickle
and had to move Luongo, but the schmuck opening his yap, just
lowered to near squat any return of value he could bring.

I can't find a link yet, but it was reported briefly that Nonis said
something to the effect that they would be going after a vet goalie.
Hopefully the hockey show on TEAM590 @ 9:00 am will provide
more info. The best scenario possible for Gillis would be for a couple
teams to want Lou.

They were talking on The Team 1040 this morning about how coaches call
players out publicly all the time, most recently Sutter in LA calling
out several of his top players, which is odd because they have been
winning. I think a lot of it is when and how you do it. This particular
comment did not seem well crafted or productive.

Oh yeah, if it was only the knees, I can cart it, but I also have
tendinitis in my left forearm, which if it flares up makes swinging
impossible.

I'm trying to get back to where I was a couple years ago:
> breaking 80 pretty regularly, personal best of 74,

My best was a 77 at Fraserview, in '95. That year I shot under 80 at
least once at every City course, odd because I was not striking the ball
particularly well that year but my short game was completely
unconscious. Since then I improved the rest of my game quite a bit, am
more consistent in every other aspect of the game, look like a hero on
the range, but can't score, have a hard time breaking 90.

> but working with a
> pro has actually made me worse...

Not surprising, I've had no success with lessons either. There's a huge
gap in quality among teaching pros. A few of my buddies signed up as a
group at UBC, they say it is a fantastic deal and the pro is the best.

When I originally decided to start working with a pro to try and break

give it the time necessary to change my swing, and then I really didn't
do that. Combined with my back starting to give me trouble, I basically
got worse all summer long last year.

But it's getting better again. I did some work with my guy before I got
out on the course (where last year I often found myself caught between
old swing and new swing; equaling no swing) and so I think I'm back on
the right track. We'll see.

Maybe we can get in a round some time.

I might take you up on that, if my arm survives a couple of sessions at
the range first. My right knee, which has several meniscus tears is
probably good enough to support a swing if I use a power cart. Gotta
love getting old :>)
