Have any of you ever posted on the forums at sportsnet.ca?

I'm finished with it, and told them to delete my account.

They actually filter out any mention of TSN by replacing it with *** and
they do the same for the names of on air TSN personalities as well. I was
confused why people were typing T$N and Rod B.lack at first but that is why.

A thread on the weekend, debating the broadcasting qualities of various
sports announcers was left alone, until some sportsnet personalities started
to get mentioned, then it was removed.

Also, I got into a baseball debate with what turned out to be one of the
mods, and he put his foot in his mouth with one of his replies. After about
3 other posters snickered at his gaff, *poof* the thread was gone.

Finally, last night I posted in the Mod area of the forum, asking politely
about this practice of filtering out any reference to TSN, and the question
was not answered. Instead, the thread was deleted.

I wouldn't have bothered asking them, but there is no mention in their terms
of use page, so how is someone supposed to know?

Anyway, just a heads up more than anything. Fascism still does exist, and
it's in the form of Ted Rogers, I suppose.

Are you serious? That's incredibly stupid. I've got to check that out.

Interesting. They must do it manually (or their filtering code is
awful), because I found 681 results for 'TSN':

http://forums.sportsnet.ca/search!execute.jspa?dateRange=last90days&q=tsn

But then I found 1,485 results for 'T$N':

http://forums.sportsnet.ca/search!execute.jspa?forceEmptySearch=true&q=t%24N&objID=&dateRange=last90days&userID=&numResults=15

It looks like, because they filter for Rod and Black, people are
nervous about using the term 'Black' in other contexts. They're writing
'B lack' or 'B-lack'. Hilarious. DB.

All I can tell you is when I typed TSN, the split second later when the post
went up it showed as ***.

I believe that part is automatic, but there is certainly a lot of manual
censoring and moderating going on as well.

If anyone wants a laugh, check out the last couple blog posts of their golf
analyst, John Gordon, and the replies the blogs get. He's getting skewered
for being an asshole.

Hah... I saw the 3 threads you started. I doubt any of them will last 12
hours.

They didn't last twelve minutes. I did make a little screencast though:

Here's Darren's acronym question:

" Error:

* Thread 118091 could not be loaded from the database. "

Well they haven't deleted my account yet. I noticed a thread in off-topic
where people were sharing youtube videos, and I linked to your youtube
submission. (not your actual blog)

My posting and the replies to it were removed within an hour or so. I was
very non specific about what the video file was as well.

Man, they're really hard core, aren't they? They're monitoring that
forum like a hawk. And given the volume of posting, there must be at
least a couple of people doing it. Cheers. DB.
