Just watched the first period Canada vs US and it's the first time I've seen
our jersey. Just wondering if anyone knew :

1) Why no one has their names on the back

2) What's the significance of the Winnipeg Falcons crest on the shoulders ?

Thanks -- Shawn

Go Canada Go !!

The players refused after they saw the colour scheme.

It's an eagle ... they miss Eddie.

Yea, good game. Esche held the U.S. together for a near-comeback, but
Canada showed good hustle.

Looked like the Predators playing the Avs out there.

I got ESPN2 and had to listen to Jeremy F'ing Roenick cheer team USA on.

I had to listen to Chris Cuthbert say this afternoon how great it
would be if the Leafs got Daniel Alfredsson.

Can someone actually give me a SERIOUS answer please ? I'd like to truly
know why Canada chose not to put names on their jerseys.

The jerseys they are wearing, are a tribute to the first olympic gold team
from canada, the falcons. so to be as authentic as possible they used
Canada instead of names like they did in 1920.

Finally ! Someone who's actually willing to answer a question rather than
make a sarcastic or snide remark.

Thank you. I found out about the Winnipeg Falcons crest being a tribute,
but I was unaware that the Falcons also did not have names on their jerseys.

And, for the record, I think the yellow jerseys with the red maple leaf on
the front are kind of cool looking.

I agree.

I'm actually scouring the net to see if I can find any for sale.

Welcome to the Internet, the HOME of snide/sarcastic remarks where everyone
is smarter than you and they simply cannot wait to show you in a demeaning
type fashion to make themselves feel big. It happens on every board, chat,
or discussion group out there.

But your question was legit and I saw no reason not to post it here.

I once tried to start a discussion about the quality of the new high priced
hockey cards in the collecting newsgroup and got flamed like you wouldn't
believe.

I believe they said something before the game that the Winnepeg team was the
first Canadian team to win a world championship tourny or something like
that. Excludes Olympics.

They went out on a limb with the colour scheme, but yeah it looks good.
Gotta remember that we were still about 40 years away from our traditional
red and white Canada colours in the 20's so anything goes!

Yeah .... I've kind of noticed that. These people need to get a life. I
can't understand the satisfaction they receive in demeaning everyone else.
Oh well. Must be a lonely lonely life living in their mother's basement.

I don't want him on 'my' team ... but he's been one of the big vikings
in their two raids.

Sundin's been huge (da-dats good), Modin has really matured into
primetime stuff (I can cheer for that), and Tellq played a real strong
game today (especially huge saves after a goal, and late in the game).

Now do you understand the satisfaction of demeaning others?
