I'd love to believe that the Flyers are not that far away from another
Cup. Watching Howard Eskin last Sunday night discuss the state of the
team, I got lost on whether they want to trade Van Reimsdyk for Rick
Nash. If it is a one for one, and Nash is that good, then JVR must be
just as good, so what's the point?

Eskin suggested that they still don't know whether Pronger will be
back and whether they will be able to afford the money that Matt Carle
will want.

The problem, as I see it, is that we have two goalies who I refer to
as "Stop one every once in a while" goalies. "Bob", who started off
like gangbusters two seasons ago, and "Bryz", who can string together
multiple shut outs and then give up 10 goals in one game. They are
the most recent heirs to the throne of Bernie Parent, who abdicated
due to injury nearly 40 years ago.

Once again the problem seems to be that sports today pays players for
what they are expected to do in the future, and so many times they
turn out to be busts.
