Nice statue of liberty impersonation by Carle in front of the net on
both Boston goals.

It was their game to win. Personally I feel two of the three calls
against the Flyers were iffy if not just bad calls, the last penalty
against Briere was definately a trip though... Timo's penalty was
kinda sad.. He couldn't have avoided that trip up sliding as he was,
and I couldn't quite see what caused the slide to begin with.

he was late in getting back to cover recchi, but got there just in
time. didn't do anything.

and with the blown 2 on 1 at the other end of the ice, you knew they'd
lose this game. the flyers love to embarrass themselves on national
tv. awful.

I never said that Leightnon caused the loss, I said poor play caused
it...Personally, I think some of those penalties were crap, too.

And with Richards falling down. Again.

But Carle just standing there -- what's on his mind?

I don't see anything about this game as embarassing besides the condition
of the ice and the officiating...AGAIN. For once when they Flyers are on
the ice can they just let them fucking play hockey without pulling out the
whistle at the most inconvenient times???

I'm with you one the penaties. Come on..one with less than 5 minutes and
the other with less than 2 minutes? Tell us refs, who do you want to see
win this game? Is that good for hockey? How confusing it must be for the
potential fan watching this game to try to figure out why sometimes it's
anything goes and other times the slightest bump is called.

Carle was out there too, but it was Coburn in front of the net, you're
right.

embarrassing that they blew the lead with time winding down and lost
the game in OT. they should have had 2 points in the bag.

I agree they should've had this and there's no way it should've been
lcose to OT with all the blown chances. They can't let themselves dwell
on it, and I don't believe Laviolette will let them dwell on it either.
Next up Sunday in Ottawa. Two teams heading in opposite directions at
this time in the season.

unbelievable. I think it was just shortly after that they put Bettman
on the screen and I went totally fucking ballistic. I seriously wish
someone would fucking kill that guy. I'd drink my fucking face off in
appreciation. The way that game ended it was totally fucking
predictable. Part that the reffing would affect the outcome, part that
the Flyers wouldn't cash in on their opportunities to not be in that
fucking position.
Another fucking guy I hate is Asham. How many fucking opportunities
does this club handed mother fucker need to score. Fuck him.

Anyways, Happy New Years to the NG.

the penalties were nonsense. but the flyers have nobody to blame but
themselves. they had SO many chances to win this game it was
disgusting, and i don't remember thomas having to do much of anything
on them. asham, carter, giroux, hartnell....there were so many
chances.

RUle of thumb used to be if you contact the puck, it's not a penalty.
I'm not sure what happened to that rule, perhaps it was just a one game
rule change. The point is though that there was plenty of shit that went
uncalled and they were letting the boys play, then in the last 5 minutes
they tightended up the rules. Pretty bogus. I never agreed with the
swallowing the whistle inthe final five minutes of the game, but at the
same time if they had been calling things one way for the entire game,
then they should never change for the last five minutes. Officials
should never influence the outcome of any games, that should not be the
intent of the league. Just enforce the rules and be consistant and fair
to both sides.

I'm with Rick. A penalty is a penalty. If it is a penalty in the
first 5, it is a penalty in the last 5. If it ISN'T a penalty in the
first 5 it shouldn't be one in the last 5. Consistency should reign
supreme, but doesn't. Sometimes, though, the color of your jersey
either works for you or against you.

You mean the one that didn't happen? Yeah, I saw that...seems like the
refs missed huge chance for another bogus call.
