They've been bad, at times really bad but even I have to admit that
their luck has been brutal. Crossbars, posts, missed open nets, pucks
going in their own net off asses, double tips - we've seen it all. So
you have to wonder if the last 4 games, where they've scored at a rate
that they will be unable to maintain, isn't just a bit of
over-compensation as things work their way back to the mean. Likewise
with the Leafs btw - losers of 3 in a row, 4 of 5. You have to wonder if
things aren't adjusting themselves over there too. Don't get me wrong.
The Habs are still a bad team, they're not good in their own end
(despite Julien's comments last night) and their goaltending is shaky as
hell. In Toronto too. Despite the press coverage of the Leafs in the
second week of October being the favorites to win the cup, they're a
good team but not quite the team TSN et al thinks they are.
Anyway - the Habs have 3 rough games ahead - could determine the season
for them. Win 3 and they're back to 500 and there will be lots of talk
about doing things right, confidence, working the right way etc. Lose 3
and its over. They will not recover from a 4-10-1 start.
