The subject.... Darcy.... I mean, c'mon. Talk about a horrible GM. Let's review why. Regir has not made many major changes to the season for the last few years. He always makes all of his trades before the trade deadline, or in the off season. You rarely see a new player join the ranks when the Sabres need it the most. ESPECIALLY last season. When a team performs that bad, its time to make a change. More often then not, when a player leaves, the rest of the players see that and start fighting for their jobs. And at the time, the Sabres didn't even know if they were going to be there next year. And what did Darcy do to help us in our most desperate hour??? He let Ray go to Ottawa for a shot at the cup!! Why? CAUSE HE CAN'T DELIVER ONE TO BUFFALO!!!! I'll post more on this later, I'm getting frustrated am at work =P
Let's face it, not every GM wants to deal. You have to have a partner to dance and maybe a little something to dangle in front of the other GM...Buffalo hasn't had much in the past to offer. Most GM's don't like to tinker with their lineup in the middle of the season anyway. Trade deadline deals are often the result of desperation.
As far as Darcy's deals were concerned...think Mike Wilson, Matt Barnaby, Michael Grocek, Chris Gratton. Darcy got rid of these non-performers and actually got more than they were worth in return.
Rob Ray was a limited-talent hockey player who policed the ice and made nice-nice in the community. Giving him a shot in Ottawa was a class thing by both Regier and Muckler. But they, and the league's other GM's, know that Rob's days on the ice are over. You don't see anyone rushing to him with a contract, do you.

Ya, good move with Barnaby(still more fans wear his old Sabre shirt than any current Sabre.and that was years ago).............Gratton.....he traded for this stiff and now Tampa has a defenseman that is better tan anything we got now!
It's hard to take someone's opinions seriously when they don't even know how to spell the subject's name! I mean, c'mon!

Ahhh, check the newspapers. The team was bankrupt.

Yup. Keeping Ray would have helped this team really climb in the standings.
.... oh boy, and the season hasn't even started yet.

I have to agree...he has gotten rid of some damn good players...and what do we have to show for it?! We almost didn't even have a team! I love the Sabres, but Regier has got to go!!
