Some very good prospects in this one. For Tech, RB Jonathan Dwyer & WR
Demaryius Thomas are presently highly rated;DE Derrick Morgan will
likely go in the Top 10, although there are concerns he may lack the
up-side of a Pierre-Paul.Safety Morgan Burnett is well-regarded by
some analysts. For Iowa, the guy to keep an eye on is OL Brian Bulaga,
who has drawn divergent opinions from the Kiper-types.Also LBs A.J.
Edds, & Pat Angerer, possible mid-to late round picks.

Pierre-Paul is a raw talent that I am not sold on as an immedeate
insert and your defense is better. He has only one year of division 1
play and the other two years in Juco leagues. He benefited in my
opinion with Selvie on the other side that constantly drew double
teams if not tripple teams. All this is speculation on if he comes out
after his junior year. Will have to wait until Jan 15 for that at the
latest.

IMO, both Pierre-Paul and Selvie are too small for defensive end on a
4-3 scheme. They will most likely be linebackers in a 3-4, as pass
rush specialists. Neither one is very well suited to the Bucs current
scheme.

I thought Pierre-Paul was pretty big?? DRE's don't have to be giants
if they can get after the passer.

That is the issue. Morgan is consider much more-accomplished &
prepared to play in 2010, but may have topped out. Pierre-Paul
apparently is seen as raw but with more potential. This is all very
early, to be sure.

Do the Bucs have a scheme? Each game I watched this year seemed like the
defense came on the field like they had never been there before. Different
(read 'worse') in small ways each game. No consistancy and no commonality.
Apparently no esprit de corps.

Well, keep in mind they learned & worked a brand new scheme throughout
the OTAs & camp, & well into the season, then suddenly reverted to the
old defense in mid-stream. This aint the way to look pretty.

All to true. But a step in the right direction, in my mind. Now if they
will just draft a few players where they really need them (DL and LB) things
will get better. By the way, how old is Ronde Barber now? How old will he
be when next season begins. Where will he be when next season begins.
After all his success, will he want to spend his waining year(s) with a
defense that can't hold its head up?

My guess is that Ronde will return strictly in a nickel role. He'll be
35 in April.

In today's game you can't sit back and play the same defense every
play. If you do, your dead. You have to mix. Even the last year Monte
was here, on occassions he employed a 3-4 alignment to try and confuse
an offense. If you sit back and play teh cover 2 every play then the
deep square in will kill you. The opposing team will just walk down
the field about 15 to 20 yds at a time. You hide coverages,
alilgnemnts and anything else to gain an edge.

They had to. The Bucs corners are not that strong at man coverage.
This team has been built for zone coverage.

And keep in mind that it was *this* head coach who selected and
brought in a DC and told him to run a defense that was counter to what
our players strengths are. Being the former defensive backs coach -
he never was the DC - he should have known we didn't have the
personnel for the defense that was going to be played. And yet he let
it happen, and then fired the DC so that he could take over and be the
saviour of the defense, moving them back to the primary scheme that
they should have been in the first place.

That's not leadership, that's stupidity bordering on insanity...

Are you so sure that Morris had complete say so in the hiring of
Bates? Or even Jags. At times I wonder if both Bates and Jags were
pushed onto Morris be the bobsy bros. I my memory serves me correct,
Malcolm is but now a figure head in the ownership of the Bucs. Brian
and Joel are running the day to day events of the club. I am not so
sure that they have all the smarts to run an NFL team or the smarts to
keep their butts out of the kitchen and let football people run the
organization.

Last I heard the father, Malcolm, was not in very good shape after 2

Not exxactly.

The Glazers like many other very successful business men, have
management styles that vary widely. Joel and Brian are not Malcolm.
They may have the same drive to make money like their father. Brian
and Joel have their own styles and agenda that are not just to be a
caretaker of father's inheritance.

NFL franchise ownership is a status symbol for the very wealthy. Lets
face you are in a club of 32. Not bad. Some treat their franchise as a
businees enterprise to make money and others take more pride in their
ownership and try to deliver a product that is good and a deep desire
to win. Also you get owners that think they can apply their management
skills to a football enterprise and it will be successful. The ones
with huge egos that are blind to their incompitent knowledge of how an
enterprise really needs to be ran are bad owners.

I hoping that Brian and Joel are not becoming to meddlesome into the
nitty gritty operations of a football team. Or to the least think they
are good enough not to hire good football people around them to help
make sound decisisons. This team needs good football people in key
positions. The jury is still out on Morris and Mark Dominik. Dominik
has made a couple of moves so far this season that is in my opinion
going in the right direction. I stil want to see his 2010 draft to
better get a feel of whether he is going to be a good GM or not. If he
can get Morris top notch talent and Morris can't produce then the
Glazer's hiring of Morris will have been another one of their
blunders. It will also further qulaify them as owners that care to
line their pockets at fans expense.

Yep, and it's something the Glazers will most likely do by the end of
next year, if not sooner, when they terminate "The Nightmare."
