49ers sign former Seahawks TE Morrah

In the offseason arms race between the 49ers and Seahawks, the latest
transaction is perhaps most notable because the player involved now
has ties to both teams.
Today, the 49ers signed tight end Cameron Morrah, a seventh-round pick
of Seattle in 2009, a source confirmed. Morrah, 26, has 16 catches for
194 yards in his three-year career. After struggling with a toe injury
last summer, he was waived by the Seahawks before the season and did
not play in the NFL last year.
Jim Harbaugh is familiar with Morrah from his time as Stanford’s head
coach. Morrah declared for the draft after his junior year at Cal in
2008. That season, he had a one-yard touchdown catch in the Bears’
37-16 win over Stanford. Morrah (6-3, 251) was an inviting red-zone
target in college. In 2008, he scored touchdowns on eight of his 27
catches, with seven of those scoring grabs coming inside the 20-yard
line.
Morrah joins a tight-end corps that includes Vernon Davis and Garrett
Celek. The 49ers will likely use a reasonably high draft pick on a
tight end next week to help replace Delanie Walker, who signed with
the Titans last month.
Morrah and 49ers wide receiver Ricardo Lockette both played for
Seattle. The Seahawks’ current roster includes four former 49ers:
fullback Michael Robinson, safety Chris Maragos, tackle Mike Person
and wide receiver Brett Swain.
Morrah’s signing was first reported by CBS Sports.

Does this mean Ertz is out of the picture ??? or just more competition if he
is signed.
