THREE SAN DIEGO KEYS VS. BRONCOS

1. Finish strong

The Chargers have let too many wins slip away in the second half. The
last loss to Denver ranks chief among them. They also blew leads at New
Orleans and at Tampa Bay, which is why this season is in peril. The
offense must lead this charge, with consistency in both run and pass
throughout the game.

2. Interior heat

The Chargers have failed to pressure the quarterback all season long.
The 3-4 defense is predicated on pressure from the edge, but Manning
thrives in those situations. He's immobile, so a collapsed pocket is
Peyton's worst nightmare. The defensive line must pressure him from the
inside, and that onus falls on nose tackle Antonio Garay. He and reserve
Cam Thomas are excellent interior pass rushers, and must be at their
best for the Chargers to stand a chance.

3. Mistake free football

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has been excellent at times,
downright awful at others. That reputation is fair, especially in the
last few weeks. He's accurate and efficient most times, but throws
terrible interceptions at others. If he can avoid big mistakes and major
turnovers, the Chargers stand a chance. If not, local team is done.
