OK, let's go. Sorry to be so late with this. I've just been swamped between
work and my Dad.
There will be three levels of tie-breakers for those who predict the
Chargers will make the playoffs. These are:
First tiebreaker: Chargers' result in playoffs (last year, AFC Championship
Game loss)
Second tiebreaker: Chargers' final opponent in playoffs (last year, New
England)
Third tiebreaker: Number of INTs by Cromartie in the regular season
Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
If someone has a winning prediction, but does not provide a prediction for
all three levels of tiebreakers, that person will lose the tiebreaker to
another person with a winning prediction who did provide a prediction on the
triebreaker omitted by the first person, even if this second person is wrong
on that tiebreaker level.
There will be no tiebreakers for fools who do not predict the playoffs.
Gentlemen, start your engines...

vs. Carolina W 1-0
No Steve Smith = no big plays = no chance for the Panthers
@ Denver W 2-0
Mile High no longer the house of horrors for Bolts
vs. NY Jets L 2-1
Brett Fav-ruh leads upset win on MNF
@ Oakland W 3-1
Raiders will be improved, but LT scores twice in close win
@ Miami W 4-1
Dolphins D makes it close for 3 quarters
vs. New England W 5-1
Doesn't make up for the last two playoff losses, but big win
nonetheless
@ Buffalo W 6-1
Chargers sleepwalk through a half before winning late
@ New Orleans (London) L 6-2
Saints win exciting shootout game
vs. Kansas City W 7-2
Chargers remember last year's home defeat and blow out the Chefs
@ Pittsburgh L 7-3
Steelers win ugly 16-13 type game
vs. Indianapolis W 8-3
Chargers have had Colts' number for a few years now
vs. Atlanta W 9-3
Remember the Detroit game last year? Kinda like that
vs. Oakland W 10-3
Chargers gathering momentum, win big, lock up AFC West
@ Kansas City W 11-3
Herman Edwards on verge of getting canned with KC at 4-10 or 5-9
@ Tampa Bay W 12-3
Tough game, but Kaeding wins it at the end or in OT
vs. Denver W 13-3
Chargers clinch #1 seed in AFC
Playoffs
Chargers rest up during the bye week, beat Pittsburgh in the
divisional round,
then avoid a rematch with the Pats when the Colts knock off New
England.
Chargers beat the Colts again and head to Tampa to face the Cowboys.
LT runs for one score, catches a pass for another, and even throws a
TD pass
to Gates for good measure. Cromartie seals it with a late pick six
and LT is
the MVP of the Chargers' 34-20 victory.
Michael
Tiebreakers: Super Bowl Champions, beat Dallas in SB XLIII, Cromartie
has 7 picks as teams increasingly throw to the other side (and Jammer
sets a personal best with 7 picks of his own).
Record: 12-4
AFC Championship win and a SB berth
Final opponent in AFC : Jacksonville
Chromartie has five interceptions (he's no longer a surprise) - Jammer has
seven (he's going to be a surprise this year).
No nurse?
Oh...I didn't miss it after all!
So I'll put my prediction here as well.
Chargers 12-4 in the regular season & win the AFC West.
TB 1, Chargers result in the playoffs.
Win the AFC championship game, go to Stupor Bowl [applause].
TB 2, Chargers final opponent in playoffs.
Dallas Ploughboys (who will sadly win the whole thing).
TB 3, regular season INTs by Cromartie.
6.

Just in case you want final AFC opponent for the "final opponent in
playoffs", that will be the pretty potent Jacksonville Jags.
Forgot a sig - but I'm sure Robin will look at the 'from' poster...
<grin>
MJB
Well, let's hope! But, the way I understand the tiebreakers, if you think
the Chargers will get to the SB, then you have to predict either a SB win or
a SB loss. That's "First tiebreaker: Chargers' result in playoffs," I
think.
The second tiebreaker would be their opponent in the SB.
--Robin
No news on the nurse, but I will post some personal thoughts separately.
I don't think you answered the tiebreakers right, either. Maybe I
misunderstand. I interpret "Chargers' result in playoffs" to call for two
pieces of information: what is the last game they will play, and will they
win or lose it.
So the possible answers are:
SB win
SB loss
AFC title game loss
2nd-round playoff loss
1st-round playoff loss
And then the answer to the second tiebreaker is their opponent in that final
game of the playoffs.
Is that right phlash74?
--Robin
--Robin
I refuse to pick SBs - 'those the Gods wish to destroy they first make mad'
seems appropriate in such a circumstance. So if I lose-out to someone more
willing than me to mock fate, so be it.
<grin>
Besides the letter of your specification was 'playoff' not 'championship'.
Technically the playoffs end when the champions of the AFC and NFC are
decided - what remains then is to determine the champion of the NFL.
But you already knew that.
MJB
Ok, I give up. No tiebreakers. Just post your season record prediction.
--Robin
I say 12-4 with a loss in the AFC Championship against the Colts
Cro will get 5 int's Qb's will rarther throw an incomplete to Jammers side
than a INT to Cro's side so he will see less balls
Lets hope I lose this contest and we go all the way

Always... Last season I predicted 16-0, and I actually meant it.
I never win, though. I'm always too optimistic.
--Robin
Offensive line ?s hold me back from being too optimistic. Lose 2d
round of playoffs to J-ville. Cromartie has 7 picks.
Ok...where's my stick?!
You're right, I better get one in now in case I can't post from the road. I
wanted to wait until Sunday (deadline is game time) to see if there were any
injury updates, maybe signing Anderson.
12-4, beat Dallas in the SB.
Cro with 11 interceptions.

Chargers go 12 - 4 and make to the big dance. They lose there to
Dallas.
No move to LA. LA, sensibly, will not buy a billionaire a stadium. Not
just the Spanoses either. They deny all billionaires.
Regular season 13-3;
Win Super Bowl in an AFC West showdown against the Squawks
Cro man has 12 picks

too many injuries to start the season (otherwise, I predict SB win)
1. 11-5
2. Loss in AFC championship to Patriots (at Gillette Stadium)
3. Cromartie has 8 picks
Not too different from last year
>First tiebreaker: Chargers' result in playoffs (last year, AFC Championship
>Game loss)
>Second tiebreaker: Chargers' final opponent in playoffs (last year, New
>England)
>Third tiebreaker: Number of INTs by Cromartie in the regular season
12-4. Win AFCCG against Pittsburgh. Win SB against Dallas.
Cromartie snags 12.

We win it all
Final PO opponent is NE (ah, sweet revenge) & we beat Philly in the SB
Cro only gets 9 picks in the regular season, but 4 more in the POs including
a 87 yard return for a TD in the SB
Go Bolts !
That's what I was thinking. It's not really a big issue either way,
anyone who gets the season record on the nose has some bragging rights
in any case.
Michael
> First tiebreaker: Chargers' result in playoffs (last year, AFC Championship

Division playoff game loss.

Indianapolis

We've problems up front. Both sides of the ball. We're "good", not "great",
and we're going to have trouble with teams that ARE great and have decent
skill position players.
10-6 regular season record, good enough to squeak into playoffs. (Might even
win the division.)
Overachieve in playoffs - win the wildcard round, win the divisional
playoffs, lose in the conference championship round to (agh, fuck me i hate
them) the Patriots.
Hope we have some noobs that show well on the front lines and/or hope some
of the old guys start playing back to form, but we may have missed our
window.
Superbowl champs.
Cro has 6 int's.

I know the Patriots are in it every season. I know that Belicheck somehow
puts a consistently competitive product on the field. I know they are our
arch-nemesis. I know they have a lot of firepower on offense.
Despite all this, I would not be surprised to see them suck this year.
Michael
<shrug> We'll see. Their divison's tougher this year. They had a slew of
picks, though. I'm not following thier offseason - hope for the worst.
oh yeah, picks - Cromartie gets four ints.
There's a disturbingly large number of injuries to important players
(Gates, Merriman, McNeil), so I'll go with:
10-6
Make a run in the playoffs and beat ShEli Manning and the Giants in
the Super Bowl.
FREAK Cromartie gets 15 interceptions in the regular season.
13-3
Lose Super Bowl to Dallas
Beat NE in Championship game
Cro has 8 picks
- Kevin
vs. Carolina W 1-0
No Steve Smith = no big plays = no chance for the Panthers
@ Denver W 2-0
Mile High no longer the house of horrors for Bolts
vs. NY Jets W 3-0
Brett Fav-ruh leads upset win on MNF
@ Oakland W 4-0
Raiders will not be much better than last season
@ Miami W 5-0
No offense for Miami = Win for Bolts
vs. New England L 5-1
Chargers still haven't solved the problem of dumpoff passes to the RB
@ Buffalo W 6-1
Chargers sleepwalk through a half before winning late
@ New Orleans (London) L 6-2
Sloppy game in London weather that NO manages to win by a FG
vs. Kansas City L 6-3
Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe, QB Bodie Croyle and RB Larry Johnson pull an
upset
@ Pittsburgh L 6-4
Steelers win ugly 16-13 type game
vs. Indianapolis L 6-5
Ind's Cover 2 Defense able to catch up to the sideline passes that
beat them in the playoffs
vs. Atlanta W 7-5
Remember the Detroit game last year? Kinda like that
vs. Oakland W 8-5
One use for the yellow pages in the internet age: to wear at the
stadium if you go to a game vs. Oak
@ Kansas City L 8-6
Rivers and Gates not as effective by the end of season because of
injuries
@ Tampa Bay W 8-7
LT wins this one by himself with some help from a struggling TB
offense.
vs. Denver L 8-8
No playoffs due to Rivers knee not holding up and an O-line full of
backups, as well as a shaky run D.
5 picks by Cromartie
13-3
Lose to the Patriots in the regular season, but then beat them in the
Conference Championship game and go on to beat the Cowboys in the
Superbowl.
Cro gets 12 Int's and solidfies himself as the greatest corner to ever
play the game in only his third season.

Opps, oh yeah, they go 12-4 for the season.
Ok, didn't think the game they should not lose would be ther first
game.
