While the game was meaningless, it was way too sloppy for a professional
club. Penalties were rampant, blown coverages prevalent, unnecessary
fumbles, missed blocking assignments, missed tackles, dropped interceptions,
etc. Obviously there is a lot of work to do, in order to get ready for the
regular season.
On the positive, McNabb played well and DeSean Jackson is clearly #1. I
thought all of the WRs contributed and McCoy and Buckley each had another
great game. I think the starting defense is a bigger work in progress than
the offense. Babin might be the best surprise of the preseason, and has a
chance to make the team. Sav Rocca looks like he has improved since last
season; he is hitting the corners. Hobbs had a nice kick return but is a
disaster at CB, and Maclin has fumbled 2 punts in 2 weeks - hopefully that
is coachable.
The Offensive Line and the Defense were both restructured and I have a
ways to go before I'll think either was wise.
The one thing they should have done in the off season was go for a
money wide reciever or two and they didn't.

Umm, I'm just spitballin' here... Michael Vick?
Best,
Lou
And wouldn't a first round draft pick qualify as a "money wide receiver"?
dwight
First round draft picks are good, and I like Kevin Curtis too, from
last year - but what I was thinking was an NFL-proven big name.
Say what you will the Eagles had a better set of weapons for D-Mac
when they had Terrell Owens. I won't get into the drama, but Owens
played his guts out - If they have Curtis and another top flighter out
there, it gives a lot of weapons.
They should also have kept the line more intact so Donovan would have
guaranteed time to hit those guys. The new line may gel and be as
strong as the old was over the past 5 years, but a guaranteed line and
anotehr big wideout to team up Curtis and maybe Avant with would have
been my call.
Vick is a QB though. Yeah, I know the whole option thing is pretty big
and they can put Vick in at HB or McNabb at HB and make defenses
wonder a bit, but a good "name" reciever to add to the mix would still
be nice.

Adam, I think they are too long in the tooth, but there is the intangible--
They could lead. Maybe they aren't what they were, but there are no, I
repeat NO leaders on this club this year. Am I wrong? I hope so. McNabb
calls himself a leader but that doesn't make him one. You can't puke in
money games and be a leader. Dawkins? gone ... Runyan? gone... Jim
Johnson? need I say?
Who leads this team?
Best,
Lou
Can you show me proff that he pukes in big games? He has a winning record in
big games. You are Charlie part 2. Your dislike for the best QB and coach
that
the Eagles have ever had is stupid and doesn't say much about you as an
Eagles'
fan.

Jackson and Maklin say hi. Did you watch the Eagles offense last year?

The line wasn't as good as you think over the last two years.
I think the injuries have been bad luck and made things a bit worse,
and I can see your analysis of the tackles being replaced as long term
thinking.
I like Celek at TE.
The recievers are good. I just have the opinion that another
experienced guy in there, to go with Curtis and maybe Avant, would
have been a good way to go in the off season. We'll find out about all
that as the season gets underway. The preseason still has some time
for them all to gel. I hope they can and that the injury bug leaves
the Eagles.
