Raiders free agent linebacker Quentin Groves signed a contract with
Arizona Cardinals, it was announced Thursday afternoon.

Groves, a second-round pick of Jacksonville in 2008, spent the past two
years with the Raiders after Oakland acquired him for a fifth-round
draft pick in 2010.

The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Groves was a starting outside linebacker for the
Raiders in 2010 but spent most of last season as a backup.

Groves, who had 24 tackles and one forced fumble in Oakland last season,
was considered expendable. He was replaced in the starting lineup when
the Raiders traded for Aaron Curry early in the season.

The Cardinals will likely use Curry as a backup outside linebacker to
projected starters Sam Acho and O'Brien Schofield, as well as a special
teams contributor.
