because I think he was well overrated and he is IMO an asshole and a
drunk himself. I also don't think anyone with more INT's than TD's and
only 50% completion ratio belongs in the HOF. The only reason he is in
the HOF is because he was the first real superstar of football and his
guarantee / performance in SB3. Other than that he was no big deal. I
just don't get what people see in him at all. In regards to Edwards,
the Jets could have easily said "we will wait until the legal process
is finished before we take any action". This way they could have
avoided looking so stupid all week long with all their moronic
statements. As the season goes by the more I think that the Rex, the
front office and the players are just morons.

Oh I admit that his skills and mechanics were fantastic but to me
that's not enough to be put into the HOF. In regards to being a
superstar, what you pointed out is what I meant. He was really the
first modern era star as football was becoming even more popular. John
Madden stated that if he had a chance to build a team out of football
players past and present he said that Namath would be his QB hands
down.

What i mean about coming across as arrogant is during his interviews
and appearances on TV now, not when he was a player. To me he comes
across as arrogant and I don't like that stupid grin of his. I'm sort
of a different sports fan. I grew up playing football, hockey and I
enjoyed watching both on TV but I didn't have what fans called heroes.
I admired certain sports people but I didn't worship the ground they
walked on like a lot of fans do. Even now I enjoy watching football
and hockey but you wont catch me wearing a team jersey with a players
number / name on it or a team jacket and so on. I guess that is why it
is so hard for me to look at the fans in the stands all dressed and
painted up and not laugh hysterically at how silly they look and act.
You wont catch me at a game either because I hate being surrounded by
a bunch of drunk assholes with beer balls syndrome.

I agree that he did change the game but IMO that doesnt merit being in

Last time I went to a game was years ago during the Kotite era (yikes)
and haven't been back since. Those hardcore drunken sports fans ruined
it for me.

It was a TV show..."You have entered the Kotite Zone"....it was very surreal
and characterized by a guy who always looked like an unmade bed.

That was too happy....the show that starred Richie had a very black comedy
plot line in it....funny in a tragic way...and it made thousands cry.
